The official Witcher 3 thread

Please. You mean pop in the disk, download the system software update, download the patch for the game, and then play. Consoles and PC are exactly the same when it comes to the **** we have to deal with.

----------------------

Anyway, on topic, starting this right now. Just finished my TW2 save, time to import.
The main difference being on console you don't HAVE to download the patch to play the game. Of course, you will get more bugs etc. if you don't patch it, but you can still play completely offline. On PS4 (not sure about Xbone) you can also play while downloading the patch.

You don't have to download it on pc to play either if you launch it via the .exe only if you launch via galaxy or steam.

I meant more in general and not about The Witcher specifically, sorry for confusion. Although, if you buy the retail disk on PC you have to download the day one patch to play it. I'm reasonably sure it doesn't work without the patch.

Damn, finally out of those elvish caves and damn! that Keira woman. The fight against one of the Dark Hunt guys was rather..... challenging.

Where has the time gone! This games depth is insane!

Yeah I don't think there is an indicator of how far you are story-wise. Neither of the first 2 games had anything like that. I checked my playing time now and it's at 1 day 2 hours and something and it doesn't feel right. I'm sure I've played more than that, but I could be wrong.

yeah, I don't believe I've played for around 50 hours, or even more than you for that matter!

Yeah scratch my original theory. My time has now reset to 1 hour and 17 minutes... Although I used a new empty save slot instead of overwriting a previous one earlier and think maybe it's counting time from that? No idea [emoji14]

Those caves were rough. Also started playing at 6 and now its 10:30. I think the wife will start to complain soon. But i suffer from just one more quest and then that never works like that. Totally in love with this game.

Spoiler: show
just got to triss. How do i find her again after the first quest with her. Want to uhh, pursue her some more [emoji2]

She'll come back after a while after doing other quests in Novigrad. Make sure you are 100% commited to her before you pursue her all the way. You cannot have both Yennefer and Triss and a decision must be made sadly.

The new patch has added in a TextureMipBias, which makes things look a lot better. Gets rid of the paper-mache foliage.

Damn it!

Loading a game causes you to force-listen to that load screen dialogue... and as if that's not bad enough, Alt+Tab while it's loading causes it to crash, by crash I mean, screen turn to black and nothing happens; no sound or picture; task manager claim it's "not responding".

Not impressed at ALL!!

In other words... try my utmost hardest to NOT have to load.

Loading takes all of 10 seconds at most, what's the issue?

The new patch (1.04) that brought improvements to Hairworks seems to have removed the hair that it is trying to render. I'm not sure that I'd consider that an improvement.

Sigh.

It plays the 'recap' dialogue without being me able to skip it, since it's loading the entire time.
Take back what I said about its quick loading.

Yeah I hear you, though that recap screen only shows when loading your game (and only from the main menu screen that I've noticed).

Didn't break mine at all. Only thing I noticed the patch changing is the now massive size of the loot window...

8 gigs of RAM and an i3 - 3240. Game runs well fine after loading. It used to load quickly.
