The Skyrim Mod/Tweaks/Tips Thread

Here are some comparison screenies of my game with and without all the gfx mods I installed:

The download is about 19MB, and contains 6 hi-res comparison shots. Be sure to view them full screen.

I have the following mods installed:

I'd say it's worth it. Note, if you are going to try these, just know that I had to set my monitor's sharpen down from around 60 to 50, otherwise the image was really oversharpened when using the FXAA injector. There are also significant improvements on character faces installing these mods, which you can't really pick up on from the screenies, and the same can be said for subtle colour improvements. Much more evident in the game itself. So far the only glitches or problems I've had which I'm not sure are mod or game related, were a single crash to desktop and some trees being a light blue (fixed by quitting to main menu and reloading).

If you are going to be using these remember to check back regularly to the site to see if there are any newer versions or updates.

I'm running everything in the game on high. And it's runnign amazing, there's a mod in skyrimnexus called Skyrim tools lite. Which does the memory tweak and everything automatically. Just click a button.

Is it lag or microstutter? Microstutter is pretty common with multi-gpu setups. Maybe try a different driver or use just the single card ? If you're using 3 monitors at once to play at a very high res then the game may lag even with the 3 cards.

It's more microstutter.. I'm using the latest 11.10 drivers. Haven't tried running one card yet. Also the game doesn't support eyefinity which sucks :( Will try one card later on.

Well, I've had a couple crashes to desktop and light blue spiders/Argonians on one occassion with no mods installed so it probably isn't the mods. :) I'm honestly happy with the game the way it is. Might buy it on 360 as well at some point.

Yeah I'm definitely buying it on the 360 as well sometime next year for my second or third playthrough. Achievements on the 360 are just so more satisfying than on Steam :P

Could you post a link?

@Staple: I've got a medium to low spec'd comp. See specs in my sig. Would adding those mods improve the visuals at medium level graphics or will it worsen performance. I understand that some of the mods like the above mentioned Skyrim tools lite improve performance but do any of them make the game more resource intensive.

Here it is: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=292

Easy as pie, it starts to use all your memory rather then just 2Gb. So it should make the game faster with only that tweak. But the other ones are awesome too. Playing the game with everything on ultra now, or those that can go to ultra. On 1920 x 1080 resolution.

I'll just leave this here...
But seriously, how cool would this be? Don't hold your breathe though, some people also tried to make an Oblivion multiplayer mod but that never came to fruition. These guys aren't affiliated in any way with the guys who promised multi-Oblivion but maybe this project is just too ambitious?

Yeah I remember my friend and I trying to get the Oblivion MP working...

About Vurt's Overhaul, is there a framerate drop or not? I think I might try it.

No noticeable framerate drop for me, which is expected since I have 2gigs of video-ram... I suspect that there might be issues on cards with less than 1 gig though. What I have noticed since changing over to Vurt's flora is that the texture bug where trees or the armour on guards is not rendered and they just appear as light blue/violet happens more often. I don't think the game engine in its current state likes texture sizes over and above the game's maximum... Just speculation though, I have no idea really

Hmm thanks, strangely enough I had one of those texture bugs without Vurts Overhaul installed so it may or may not be the problem.
Either way I'm holding off texture mods for now. The only on I'm thinking about is the weapon textures. There's not enough detail and some are blocky in 1st person view.

Can anyone recommend a mod for tweaking the graphics to the max? I need it to look better lol

Currently running the game on ultra on maxed settings @1920x1080 and still get the constant 60fps.
