I took Triss' advice and mixed a cordial of Ostmurk and drank it, but I can't even get close to the monster before his tentacles take care of me! Then when I do get close his mucus/spit takes care of me in one shot! And I got lucky once got got really close but my sword does no damage (My silver one)... I'm one confused guy...


Right second question, the DLC finally downloaded for me last night but now I can't install them for some reason :wtf:?! When I try and install them it says Administrator privileges needed, WTF?? I only have one profile and that is the Admin profile :mad:!
Never had a problem like this before :confused:???? How do I get this sorted?

Are you running the game as a adminstrator?? If not right click and run as admin, this if you are using win vista or win7(not sure about xp).

I finished chapter 1 last night, awesome so far.:D

Or if you import a save from witcher one and did the lady of the lake quest correctly, you get the silver sword imported.

Place an Yrden sign on the ground where one of the tentacles with the orange glowing bit will try to hit you. Dodge out of the way and when it hits your sign it will be trapped there for a while. Use this opportunity to attack the orange glowing bit until it's destroyed. Do this two more times until the final phase, which I'm sure you can figure out.

Eish bro, now I'm really stuck! I've taken out his tentacles and completed the QTE, but now I don't know what to do?? The bridge has collapsed on him and he's throwing rocks at me. I try and go left but his tentacle is blocking the way, it doesn't move or anything, it just sits. If I get to close to it then Geralt dies for some reason. Then I tried running up the broken bridge to the left but the tentacles don't let me get far and they knock all the way back to the beginning :(. Where to next?

You can buy some Silver Ore from the smithy, just click "Let's trade" and click on materials and viola :).

I could buy silver ore from the smith, I think. If you can't however, the only other place I've found silver ore is a nekker cave close to where your ship is moored in flotsam. But trying to get that without a silver sword is definitely suicide.
 
Just picked mine up. I made a lot of fuss over this? The two hardcover outer pages are thicker than the entire book. :P I don't think it's even 30 pages and the last page says to be continued, so yeah...

Oh well, I guess it's at least something, right? I just thought from the pic on Take2 it would be about A4 and be a lot longer.
 
I am fucking loving this game so far!! Just made it to Chapter 2 last night, but I think I'm gonna stop playing for now 'till I get my gfx card at the end of the month. The game is playable on my PC, but it looks like shit. I'm playing at 640x480 on a 24inch monitor: really, really ugly. I don't want to play through the game like this, I basically just wanted to check it out but I just couldn't stop once I started. Gonna go trade in some PS3 games and pick up Brink for PS3 to keep myself busy 'till I get the gfx card.

Then play it great on a 14" :p, my other box need an upgrade too I can tell it's at end of it's road. I wonder how the ps3 version is going to be for witcher 2... if any :)

That bridge on the left that you keep getting knocked off, that's the final step. You need to time the tentacles while running up the collapsed bridge to avoid them (don't ask me how, I just ran and made it through on my first try :P) and when you hit the top edge a cutscene will kick in and you're all done. :)

I actually tried running up there in the first place but those damn tentacles would always get me so I just thought I wasn't meant to go that way! But in the end I finally made it!

I actually would have done that if I had a 14".
I think a PS3 version will at least match the PC version on low spec which is fine by me. Even at this kak resolution the visuals are great on low but I can't read anything on the screen which sucks real bad.
 
It seems that the further into the story I get, the worse my performance gets. I've turned almost everything down now, and it's barely playable. It's strange, because last night I was playing it just fine, with no lag, but now it lags to hell and gone. I'm running Gamebooster with it, so I don't know what the hell is going on. :/
