The Witcher

I thought S.A Retailers only stock EU version games?

I Got the witcher for a present, the limited edition one with all the included patches and stuff, and mine cut's out!

UNless it's an import being the limited and all.

You mean the tarrot cards are censored?? Check the box and see which rating board's logo appears. If its ESRB then its US, if it has a red circle with an 18 in the middle its the european version.

There's a mod available to uncensor the game.

Probably but some stores in the US particularly carry both the censored local version and the imported eu version. They do this because the customers prefer the EU versions, initially the censored sold poorly in the US because everyone was importing the EU version.

I ahve not touched the game in many moons though.

To busy Lanning and making maps for COD4.

I gave it a once through and never touched it again. Will play it again in about 3 months when I have forgotten most of the game, much better that way.

yeah I got the ESRB rated one.

Hey Stef, you seem clued up about The Witcher realm ... you know if they are working on The Witcher 2 ?

They are working on the witcher console port and they are also working on two unnamed pc games. Most people are convinced one of those is a new witcher pc game. Nothing official thought but don't be surprised if witcher 2 is released some time next year.

There might have been some miscommunication as to what 'cut out' implies. Sex in The Witcher isn't graphic.

kinda-SPOILER ALERT

When a sex scene is initiated you see Geralt making out with the girl in question with possibly a table being violently emptied of its contents and then it fades to the "conquest card" or whatever the chauvinists at 'Red call it :D.

This card contains some mild/soft erotic/pornographic art (which is quite disturbing at times).

Apparently the US version censors the cards.

/kinda SPOILER ALERT

Meh... some of the stuff above aren't spoilers but it just doesn't seem worth re-writing just to separate the spoiler from the non-spoiler.

I played the game back when it was first released. I really enjoyed the fresh approach to ever similar fantasy setting. I especially liked the over the shoulder view and timing combat system. My biggest gripe was that the story didn't branch out in the kind of direction I was hoping for and character models were reused too frequently.

I think The Witcher enhanced version fixed the reusing of models issue ;)

I just got the PC Format with the enhanced edition patch. Think it's time to make that second run through the game :D.

I have the Enhanced Edition. Character models are still frequently repeated.

<spoiler>
I'm in act 3 and I am loving the game. My only gripe is that the combat is rarely challenging. I'm playing on normal difficulty and I was considering starting again on hard, but I've put so much time in already. The only battle that tested me so far was fighting the Beast. I thought the battle against Javed and the Professor outside the tower would be be a challenge, so I chugged some potions, polished my sword and wailed down on the Professor. A minute later they were running like b*****s. Didn't even break a sweat. Still love the game though.

My eyes are closed rite now..I dont wanna read is;)

I have the Witcher and downloaded the enhanced edition but I have yet to play right through to the end. Yep I know it's a SIN.:o

Man it was a pain just to get the game registered now. Turns out I had to synchronise my time to the internet :(. Now I can finally install the patch.

The Witcher is a very good game, I must still finish it or start over with the new enhanced patch applied.
