Was looking to a good stealth game. Oh well, will wait for bundle price![]()
On matters of reboot, it seems like Tomb Raider was the only good reboot thus far
Tomb Raider was more than just "good", it was actually FANTASTIC!

I can't understand why certain Publishers can't get a dynamic standard in quality. Thinking they gave us Human Revolution, this is indeed an unexpected flop.
First they fucked up Hitman, now they're fucking up Thief. Square Enix, have you no shame?
Just because some people think it is a shit game doesn't make it so. Play the game first and then you can call it shit, but it will still be only an opinion.
You're part of a minority, though. A lot of people felt Absolution was a massive misstep from the franchise. IO-Interactive have already confirmed that the next Hitman game will draw inspiration from the older games and that they're removing a lot of things that were introduced in Absolution, like small, linear levels and checkpoints, so they know what they did wrong with Absolution.
The people who enjoyed Absolution are mostly from the camp of people who never played (or finished) the previous games, and I suspect we'll see the same thing happening with the new Thief game.
So I have to buy, then play the game myself, before I can call it shit? Despite a lot of reviews calling it shit and it looking like complete shit on streams? Sorry, but no. That's flaky logic. I don't have to dip my finger in shit to know it's shit. I've been playing games long enough that I can spot shit from a distance.
IMO if you haven't played a game, read a book, watched a movie, etc. then ypur opinion on said game etc. means pretty much nothing. That's just me though.
trouble is, with limited budget and time available for gaming, we are forced to pick and choose. in this case, given the choice between buying Thief vs buying Dark Souls 2, the reviews make it very clear whats the right answer
but if this goes on steam sale in June then i shall probably grab it. just not now and not at full price.

And in my opinion, if you cannot get a reasonably clear idea of a game by reading previews, watching gameplay trailers, watching other people play the game on streams and reading reviews, then you need to learn to think and assess information provided to you. I'm sorry, but these days we have more information available on games before they have released than ever before and the information available to us is more than enough to form a reasonably accurate opinion on something before you play it yourself.
If I had to play every game in order to see if it was worth it or not, there would be absolutely no need for reviews or the like. If you cannot judge roughly what a game is going to be like before you play it, there is something seriously wrong.
That said, people have different standards. My standards are just higher than most and therefore I won't waste my time playing something that, by all indications, seems to be atrociously mediocre.
As I said, we have so much info available to use before release, including being able to watch people actually playing the game. If you think that's not enough to make a reasonably accurate call on what the game will be like, then I don't know what more to say. Have fun then, I guess.

And as I said I disagree with you. I still feel you need to actually try something for yourself before you can have a valid, informed opinion on it. Sure, if you watch someone play it you can say it looks shit, but that doesn't mean it is shit. Like I also said, let's just leave it at that and agree to disagree.
Clive v Wlad!!! Sadly the match ends in a draw![]()
