What Meph says makes sense, have you installed any codecs?

Doesn't sound hardware-related to me...

only codecs installed is the klcodec pack that was installed when i built the system and installed windows a few months ago

And the other PC you've tried the screensaver on is also x64?

Have you Googled to see if there are any other people with similar problems with that particular screensaver? :/

yip only difference is the i7 runs xp 64 and the phenom 2 vista 64

Can you recreate the events to cause a BSOD?

This is from Win7, but it's essentially the same as XP:

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Click Settings under Startup and Recovery > Untick Automatically Restart.

Try cause another BSOD and write down what it claims causes the error or take a pic of the screen and post? It's the only thing I can think of that might help narrow down the possibilities...

have you tried removing and re-installing a newer K-Lite pack?

will try that now when i assemble it again (add the other secondary hard drives)and see what happens currently in safe mode quickly

no freezing yet ! also started the marine aquarium ssaver to see if that might make it bsod ! i havent removed any codecs yet

nope nothing, just reconnected the hard drives and the dvd drive but nothing software wise, I feel like installing the beta copy of win 7 now after all this hassle

May as well I don't go near codecs, personally. I've had way too much grief with them and games. I use VLC for the media that won't play in Media Player.

Win7 is a beautiful OS though... I'm already putting money aside to get it after it gets released.

yes it is beautiful but my xp installation looked just as good (i have made a few changes so now it looks even better
