The problem with complexes is that unless you have super strict security guards controlling who goes in, electric fences don't help because the thieves just come in the gate. It was my pet peeve when I lived in a complex, the intercom went to people's cell phone, so you could either get in with a remote, or phone someone from the intercom to be let in, and people would just dial random numbers and say please let me in, I'm here to visit someone or another, and people would open the gate for them. Or they just park by the gate and wait for someone else to come in or out, and go through when they open the gate, or come in quickly after another car. If I saw someone by the gate, I would insist that they move out of the way so I could go through, and if someone tried to come in behind me, I would stop just inside the gate and wait for it to close. Other people would just randomly let people though and it annoyed the crap out of me. It upset a lot of people that I wouldn't let them in, but I don't just let strangers into the place that I live.
