I guess growing up its taught to you as an entitlement. I know I was also told to respect my elders, and today when I engage with someone much older than me, I just HAVE to be respectful.
dont get me wrong kids should always respect adults but not a chance am i going to jsut give respect to people because they are older then me now that i am an adult. I also almsot guarantee you wether it be at work on the road anywhere that without actually thinking about it their are elders then you that you dont show respect for, take my company im relatively young here now i respect the peopel that have earned that respect and have shown me respect back.

I think the idea is that being alive for 70+ years means you've probably, in some way or another, earned your respect.

let me put it this way i dont want someone to respect me jsut because im older that in itself isnt true respect anyway ! i want to know ive earned their respect

My grandfather played golf and was the chief fire man for Durban.

He never killed or robbed anyone, he was an asshole though.

Mine wasn't an asshole I have to admit :p Though his father was part of the nazi group in south africa during ww 2 also involved with mafia he got killed at a race track and told his wife that day he doesn't think he is coming home :O

And my moms uncle was in jail at 12 and became a mercenary and fought in the congo crisis back then but never come back home.

Then my moms grandfather on her mothers side was an engineer in the british army remember that cod 2 level when you have to defend el alamein he was in that battle :O and my dads mothers uncle was a pilot for the raf during ww2.

My moms dad was a well respected member of the community and he staged his own play which comprised of the whole family.People who went to see the play still talk about about it,he changed many lives through it. I feel proud to be his grandchild.

I have absolutely no idea what that means!

Sounds like porno code talk.

Get someone to phone you and apologise that you got to take this. Then when you get back say something along the lines of: "Ooo better get this done". The interruption of the phone call will give you the chance to let her know that you got to work and yet the interruption wasn't done by you but by whoever phoned you. Psychologically it should be fine with her.

I'm making this up but it sounds plausible. :)
haha i have tried that too, but she just waits patiently for you to finish and carries on with her story.... we have had where andother secretary and i were busy trying to sort out an account issue for a client, where she interrupts us to tell us something completely unrelated to the discussion we were having...
