Thread of PC Woes, Troubles, Problems, and Issues

+1 for technical support forum

I have an issue too. I just got ADSL and I am doing my first ADSL setup and I'm using a D-Link DSL 2460U. I started a thread in myBroadBand. Don't be afraid to help me out :)

My first ADSL setup and D-Link DSL 2460U issues

mmm... I havent experienced that before. Perhaps ask Telkom for a "Guest" account, enter that into the router and then try to visit the Telkom website. if that works, then I am sure the line/Router is fine. Also check that all your settings such as VCI and VPI etc are correct. Other than that, not sure what to say. Good luck;)

Ok quick question guys.

COD4 wont run on my PC dunno if its Win 7 64bit or what, it loads and before even gets to menu it bombs out, tried running in compatibility mode.

Not sure man. Thats the reason why I am a little reluctant to change to Windows 7.

I'm running cod4 under windows 7 64bit. maybe you should try reinstalling cod4. first uninstall and make sure the folder is deleted and then reinstall.

If you playing online make sure that punkbuster is under your firewall and anti virus exception list otherwise you're going to get kicked for punkbuster handshaking.

Did you re-install cod4 after you installed Windows 7? I've played cod4 on Win7 64 bit with zero problems.

Mine works well under vista 64 bit and win 7 64 bit. Does single player crash as well, or only multiplayer. If it's only multiplayer, it might be because you don't have a microphone plugged into the mic jack.

A sounds like the sound problem again. Search for it there will be many hits for the cod 4 sound problem.

I had Bit Defender on my desktop pc, and i had the same problem. Its a compatibility issue, it does state Bit Defender compatible with windows 7 but i have tried the latest version and after 2 months it stopped working(original) and went gray as did not want to update. So i just got rid of it and then went to Avast.

Stuck keys on keyboard? Check that first.

Nope not that simple I am afraid.

I have never heard of that before. A really really old monitor?:D

First time in my live seeing it. LCD screen. The MB,Cpu was pretty old but still working fine till my dad installed vista

After searching and racking my brain it seems it has someting to do with the IDE Controller that was starting to fail.

I also got the "IDE 80 Conductor cable error" that only went away once when I cleared the cmos but it soon returned.

Things you can try if you ever in your life get this error swap out IDE cables, only put 1 device on a IDE cable. It works for a few restarts and shutdowns but soon it returns.
So we just brought new mb cpu and ram.

The actual cause is because the pins in the IDE port are starting to rust, so yeah, time for upgrade.
