I dont get it why is a rx 480 more expensive in South Africa then a gtx 1060. Is this some kind of price fixing or what? Seems pretty lame to me as I dont want some dx11 card I wont need in 2 years >.>. Anyone know why 300 dollar cards are being sold cheaper then a 250 dollar card. I know not all are 300 some 250-300 but even then.

It's most likely that the intermediaries (importers and distributors ) are just a tad more expensive

Well I hope this changes in the next year I aint gonna pair a Zen cpu with a 1060 as its outdated for what I like. I may as well get a 1070 with the rx 480s price here..

So got home last night to find that my PC is not switching on. Try switch on and all that happens is it lights up and fans spin up for a second (if that) and then off again.

Made sure all hardware and cables are in position and not lose ? No beep or any noise?

Yeah, reseated alles and problem persists. Only had board, CPU, RAM connected and problem still persists. Even without RAM problem persists with no beeping. Just powers up for a second and off again.

Hope it did not get struck be lightning. If you have another pc. Perhaps try trial and error.
When you removed the RAM and tried to boot it up. Did it BEEP?

I had a similar problem (not exactly) but it turned out to be the bios. On my motherboard I have a button that allows me to switch between two BIOS's. So I flipped that and it has been working fine. Think my BIOS broke because windows 10 gave me BSOD a few times and had to hard restart but not sure.

It's your PSU. It's given up the ghost.

I'm with Dulcis Ultio on this, you might have inadvertently let out the magic smoke from the PSU

Yeah I figured as much.

The next problem is shops down here don't stock supplies of such nature. They tend to be surprised or ask, "but why do you need a 750W?" and then give you a blank stare when you ask for a modular PSU that has a dedicated 12v rail.

Before you go of spending. Does it beep when you remove the ram and try to start it up. And tried moving the Ram to different slots? Trying to make sure it's not the mobo or ram. If there is no beep when ram is out. then it might be mobo.

Yeah, no beeping whatsoever.

Reseated, CPU and RAM and tried without RAM. Reseated 970 and tried without. Disconnected and reconnected all power cables. Disconnected all HDD's. Disconnected all peripherals. Can't think of much else.

No Beep with RAM out. might mean that your Mobo is kapoet..... :(

Hoping not, cos that might then mean getting a new CPU and RAM as well. In which case it may very well be an insurance claim. They might not look kindly on that considering I've just today renewed my policy.

Just borrow another PSU and test. No point in buying new parts when you do not yet know what is wrong. But I think it is mobo

Yeah, I don't have spares lying around any more. So I just took it to a company I used to work for. I know their work ethics and trust em enough.
