When you replaced the thermal paste, did you check if the thermal pads that cover the VRM's and so forth were still fine and making good contact? Because generally they generate a lot of heat as well.

They are fine. Seems my temps have come down. Few more 73 74 on bf 4. Pillars of eternity 64c. Ag I am going to replace the card.

I'm still on the fence about this, maybe some people can help me decide. In terms of upgrades, either I could get a 970, or spend a bit less and get a 960 + a SSD. What are your guy's thoughts? The 970 seems like overkill for 1080p. But the 960's 2GB vram is a problem too.

Sigh, I wish there was a card inbetween them with 3GB of vram, and performance smack bang in the middle.
 
hey I am looking for a graphics card for my pc. My current rig consists of:
4gig ram
intel icore i3-4150 lga1150
msi H87M-E33

I will also need a new powersupply. My budget is R2000 to R3000. Can anybody give me advice on what to look at?

I would say look at getting a graphics card and power supply to start with.

I thought you wanted a graphics card. Why would you waste your money on an inferior product, but since you insist with this foolishness the AMD that will fit into your price range that will give barely the same performance as the glorious nVidia GTX 750 Ti is the AMD Radeon R7 260X

nVidia > AMD > Intel
 
I've been waiting for the R9 300 series to replace my 550ti but the Asus 750ti looks very tempting.

Just noticed the 950ti will be out later this year. Might wait for that instead.

Is it advisable to run an Outlook PST file from a folder that is continuously synchronised with a NAS device, while Outlook is constantly in use?
 
Has any got one of those galax 250 ssd's from rebeltech? Trying to decide between that and the crucial bx100.

I wonder if someone might be able to help me with my PC.

I have searched sites with other forums but have not seen one that is quite the same as mine.

My PC is doing the normal boot loop, and i can't even run a new installation of windows as it also restarts at the same place, i have done a memory test that comes with the windows 7 cd and there are nor problems that it pics up. I have re-checked all cards, and chips to make sure that everything is seated correctly, i have tried different hard drives, memory, tried using on board screen cards and different external, Changed cables, and tried a different power supply and nothing seems to help with my problems.

I am not too sure if this was caused with overheating, as i was playing AC black flag, and left my pc running overnight. when i started to play again, my PC had frozen, i restarted and since then my problems have started.

I can run a mem test like mentioned before thru the night, so i know that it cant be caused by my CPU from overheating. I have tried changing everything i can think of in the BIOS.

Can any one help.

okay, so you've got a Windows installation already on there. Do you even get to see the Windows 7 loading screen?
It seems like you've got a corrupt NTLDR or boot sector. Try setting your SATA mode to Legacy or AHCI respectively.
When you computer switches on continuously press F8 and you should be presented with boot options for Windows and select "Disable auto restart on system failure". This will at least allow a BSOD to display if there is one. Chances are you're getting a 0x08b (iirc) error.

You'll need to boot from a Windows CD into recovery and perform a "chkdsk c: /r" from command prompt, this'll repair any error on the drive.

I was running Windows 8.1, i Tried windows 8 CD, then Windows 7 CD thinking that my windows 8 Cd was damaged. it always restarted at the loading screen, a second or two after the logo appears.

I will try tonight and let you know the outcome,

Instead of flipping a coin I figured id post here.

Currently I don't have any ssd's and running a 550ti after my 6870 failed. Should I get an ssd or replace the 550 with something like the 750ti/270x. Both options offer improved system performance.

I don't think the performance increase on the 750 is that much to warrant that high cost of upgrade, I would rather go for the considerable performance increase you'll get from an SSD.
