What motherboard did you get?
A SATA data port doesn't deliver power, only data. And yes, one data port per drive only. You can get a PCI add-on card if you want more SATA ports.
Not sure which other motherboard manufacturers also do it, but I know Asus have their SATA ports perpendicular to the motherboard itself, so even when the GPU extends over the ports (which the higher end ones usually do) you can still plug the cable into the port.
I meant data, yes, not power.
I'm using an ASUS board so 2 ports are covered and 2 are open and they sit right "in front" of the card leaving just enough space for the 2 SATA cable to connect.
