I'm a copy and paste head. :D

Honestly the only thing I know about cars is how much of a pain in the ass they can be when they stop working as intended.

Also I don't hate racing games at all, I own over a dozen of them on Steam, as well as a G27 :p

Owning them and actually playing them are 2 different things. I'd like to see your hours spent on those games to justify your claim of not hating them.

Do not be deceived... the internet is a mighty tool in the hands of one who is well acquainted with it!

Skim reading along, I actually thought you said that on the internet you get acquainted with a mighty number of tools. Which is also true, I guess.

I don't need to justify anything. I play and enjoy many genres of games.

Do you really think I hate racing games just because I don't see the appeal of Forza?

that's not a question... V8 it up son!

Unless you want fuel efficiency or cheap services. Then don't. Then again, if you want fuel efficiency you'd drive a Nissan Leaf or a Toyota Prius.

The EARGASM

That's exactly it. I know that v8 are fuel guzzlers, but when it's avg km's to a liter is only about 2-4km's less than my current one, is it that much of an issue?

Also, I'm not talking about fuel consumption as this is the first thing people bring up as "problems" with big engines. This is general knowledge!

But yes, I love the sound of it, this is why I am wanting it. Mostly the reason anyway.

The biggest issue will be maintenance - if you can afford that then go for it.

Well how much maintenance can there be really? It's just had a major service where plugs, cam chain, discs etc were replaced.
As you know, I don't do a lot of mileage, so its service intervals will be few and far between.

Another note, where is a good online shop to shop a 12" tablet?

Basically take you last major service and double the amount, that will give you the basic idea of a major service on a V8

Fair enough. But surely that can be alleviated by a backyard mechanic?

Now this goes for mainly the older V6 and V8, but will likely apply to more modern V's...DON'T LET JUST ANYONE TOUCH YOUR MOTOR.

The biggest issue is that you have a shared crankshaft, which means that your timing chains (cam belt/cam chain) need to be 100% correctly tensioned and adjusted. Failing that (and it's very easy to get it wrong on a V), you may lose/damage some/all of the following parts including, but not limited to main bearing, crankshaft, cam, valves, rockers, conrods, pistons and head (both of them)

Which will likely then mean that you'll need the engine rebuilt or replaced entirely (this is especially true if the conrods broke and damaged your crank and the inside of the block).

Thanks Psycho :D Its so true! Beo - he is very accurate about the costs involved. And dont get excited, I wouldnt take it to a backyard mechanic and also remember Beo - the shorter distances cars do the more work the engine sometimes needs to be cleaned. Even with my tazz I have had loads of issues thanks to too little usuage.

The easiest way to ensure that short distance driving doesn't muck up your engine is to take a longish (200km will do) spirited drive once a week. It ensures that the carbon build-up and other crud that accumulates gets a proper thrashing. Apart from that a service every 15000km or 12 months is mandatory.

If your car is getting oldish or has highish mileage insist on good oil. I swear by Castrol GTX and will insist on it. Older cars should use Castrol GTX High Mileage as this helps a little with brittle seals, which is something a normal service will not take care of and seals get brittle over time. Pay attention to your car and its consumption, if it starts using more petrol something is wrong. If it starts using oil you best get a mechanic to check out seals. If it starts using water, get the seals checked, get the head and head gasket checked, check the radiator and water pump for ANY leak, check for water in your oil, etc...

Hell, I insist on specific brands for replaceable car/engine parts.

Spark Plugs - NGK or Champion
Ignition Leads/HT leads - Bougicord
Air/Oil/Fuel filter - GUD or Champion
Brake Pads - Ferodo or Safeline
Brake Disks - Ferodo
Clutch - LUK

And that is that, unless the manufacturer has a very compelling reason as to why they cannot use those manufacturers as part of my maintenance plan/service plan agreement.

my car is standing still about 90% of the month. I have to make a point of driving it on the weekends just so the battery won't die. needless to say I don't get anywhere near my 20k km service so have to do it annually
