Good luck FarligOpptreden! May you get a break soon and may you land better clients.

Thanks Soli. I can't believe how much I've been turned to a bitter old man in such a short, horrendous year. I didn't have a grey hair in sight last year and, with my beard growing out nicely now, my wife spots a new grey hair every morning. I'm even developing grey flanks above my temples. :)

...sad thing is I only turned 32 this past weekend. I really feel I'm getting old before my time.

Problem is, I haven't had leave this year. At all. I've been working on average 6 days a week,14 hours a day since last December. I needed this break.

Thing is, we have a fixed SLA for the people placed at the client (which includes myself). So no, extra compensation isn't on the table.

They pay the bills, so they probably make the rules.

I went a little insane today. Took it out on my business partner and my 2 senior developers.

Like I said above, I went a little insane today. I'm not good company in the least right now. My wife is quite worried about me at the moment.

Thanks, but I'm afraid venting any more than I already have will only cause irreparable damage to my business. I've got a suspicion I have already sown more destruction today than I should have.

I kind of understand where you're coming from. Had a very poorly scoped out project this year and a boss that is afraid to put a money value to changes. So much work (basically 3 different designs) for the same amount of money that we had when we had no work.

Surely you don't need a full compliment of staff everyday? Maybe a four day work week? Sometimes little gestures go along way.

I don't know what that SLA says, but can't your guys maybe monitor it from home? Or does the client really just want to see bums on seats?

And make sure you take a holiday next year first chance you can, not healthy dude.

Hey my beard turned white in the last 3 months as well. And I'm 27, I think.

We have more projects than resources to start AND finish off by the end of the year, so it's a case of seat-in-bum to get-work-done, unfortunately.

The staff that can work remotely indicated they will do so, but seeing no faces around the office apparently freaks the client the hell out. So I'm trying to arrange for as many hands on deck as possible.

Will try my best - we already have plane tickets bought and accommodation booked around Easter to go with my folks to a mountain resort somewhere around Tulbagh in the Western Cape. Let's hope I don't have to cancel and forfeit tickets and accommodation AGAIN.

I wish it was only my beard, but my hair is turning grey now as well. I thought I will go bald before going grey, but looks like the inverse will happen. My hair thinned to a point before the onset of baldness, then the stress of the year started greying me out. :p

haha, my sister thinks coming down here next week is 'getting away from the vaalies a bit' ........ no no no, they are a thronging here quite alright, no escape for you!

There are no vaalie free zones this year is what I meant :)

How to spot a vaalie at the coast:

- Dude wearing a skin tight "help my sterk lyk" vest
- Dude with brand new brand name board shorts
- Brand name slops
- Says "Bru" and "Boet" a lot

Essentially they look like the cast of Jersey Shore...fake spray tan included.

Morning people of the TK.

Last night I was shocked and amazed by some peoples generousity - will make a post just now.

Unfortunately the happy mood was destroyed this morning by the results of my FAC exam - 30%. And unfortunately my dad didnt take that news well at all. So meh :(

Morning TK, been a hectic few weeks. I thought things were supposed to calm down at the end of the year
