Is there any chance of Hamilton winning the F1 Championship or whatever it's called. Not the race of the weekend but the whole thing. What will need to happen for that to be possible?

The chances are slim, but it's there. If Rosberg ends on the podium, he wins the F1 Driver's Championship (DC), no matter what Hamilton does. Hamilton needs win, with Rosberg being 4th or lower (I think) in order to take the DC; so purely on numbers, it's Rosberg for the win.. In reality, however, Hamilton will be encouraged by the fact that Rosberg only finished 4 of the 9 races (again, I think) where he didn't win. I'm going with these numbers off the top of my head, read it all last night, so I might be off by one or two in places.

What all this translates to is, unfortunately, a very boring race. Hamilton needs to pull a typical Hamilton weekend, take pole position, and lead from the start. He's good at that, and he like the Abu Dhabi circuit where this weekend's GP takes place. Rosberg, on the other hand, needs to make sure he stays out of trouble. This mean qualifying in 2nd, to avoid a first corner tangle with Hamilton, and even allowing Verstappen, Vettel, or Ricciardo to take second place with little resistance; 3rd place gives him the DC, while any one of the others could still give Hamilton serious pressure. So my hopes for an exciting GP lays firmly at the feet of the Ferrari and Red Bull teams.

My prediction: Rosberg takes the DC. All eyes on Verstappen as he shoulders his way through the field, and a teary farewell to one of the legends of the sport running his final GP, Jenson Button.

Rosberg will win the title if he finishes in the top three regardless of Hamilton's finish, but if the German can only manage a fourth-place finish or lower he risks surrendering the championship.

If Hamilton wins the race, he will pin his hopes on Rosberg finishing fourth or lower, while a second-place finish means his team-mate must finish no higher than seventh. If Hamilton finishes second and Rosberg seventh, the pair will be equal on points, but Hamilton will take the title given he has more third-place finishes (they would be equal on race wins and second-place finishes).

If Hamilton finishes third, Rosberg must finish ninth or lower.

Its a teary farewell to Button and Massa. I hope Lewis's car breaks down, I just want Rosberg to take the title because I cant deal with another Lewis hoopla

The only reason I didn't mention Massa is that I feel like we had enough tears and farewell at Sao Paulo :)

I think if the Hamilton has an opportunity to take out Rosberg legally he might just take that chance.

It's a risky idea, as he'd still have to finish on the podium.. But we've seen exactly this kind of thing by a bunch of the greats, I certainly would put it past him.

Morning peoples!
For those of you who are taking part in Black Friday have fun!
I don't believe in black Friday. As a financial advisor it puzzles me how some people max out their credit cards to save a couple grand. If you dont pay it off fast enough work out what you will be paying in interest.

But, but EasyEquities is dropping their brokerage fee today and on Monday.

I actually have a positive balance on my credit card especially for Black Friday and Christmas. This year I'm prepared. Last year, I wasn't. :)

One thing I won't do however is stand in long queues and such. Luckily I did all my shopping online. Bought Christmas presents and got myself some games. So now I'm sorted and will be taking the wifey out for dinner tonight. :)

Just the brokerage fees or platform fees as well?
Most of the investments I do are 0.5% upfront instead of the 3% allowed to th advisor. Obviously there is still a small platform fee. I mainly use STANLIB as they do not have hidden performance fees.
It's a clever idea of easy equities. I don't know much about them. Are their any trailer fees (0.5% p.a?)

It was one of the most emotional days wasnt that!

And yes Lewis will take that chance, I think ROsberg is going to play it as safe as possible, but I know Lewis will maim someone for the DC

There are no platform fees. It is a very simple system. You can only buy at the price they give you. No bids or anything like that.

You can take R100 and you don't lose too much in costs.

You would be suprised how few people are this responsible.

This is why, if I were Rosberg for a day, I would aim at 2nd place in stead of pole (to avoid the Senna/Prost style 1st corner) and never try to overtake Hamilton (to avoid a Schumacher/Hill or Schumacher/Villeneuve).

Thanks for the heads up!
I'm assuming you have dealt with them? I mainly use unit trusts for my investments, but I think I'm going to give them a try.

Straight equities hold a certain amount of risk, but are good to have in your portfolio.

Yea that is what I would do as well. Keep my nose clean, have a good steady race and avoid all conflict.

That is what I fear, I can see him doing it and get away with it.

It will be a race of note; Hamilton has everything to gain an nothing to lose. Rosberg on the other hand has plenty to lose. Hamilton can be a very aggressive driver and he has the skill to attempt to force an error on Rosberg. It will (if he attempts to force Rosberg out) likely be driving slightly off the racing line forcing Rosberg to attempt an overtake then closing the gap and forcing Rosberg to either make contact or hit the gravel. Well, that's what I've seen other former world champions to in the past. Everything really depends on what happens in qualifying.

I can tell you know Lewis will force him to make a mistake and force him off track - he has done it more often than not this season, the irony is he never gets penalized for it, but everyone else always gets a penalty.
