Titanfall Beta Access Registration

Some more feedback.

After playing around 26 matches, I feel I am now better qualified to give some more feedback.

The game play is a lot like cod, just by playing it I can tell the guys from COD 4 were behind this game, everything from running to aiming and weapon mechanics are straight from COD which isn't a bad thing. I find playing the smaller maps is a lot better than jumping into a larger map with latency of over 200, I also noticed that the busier the server got the higher my latency was, at a stage last night I was playing with 280ms...and I am sorry but if a company expects me to spend R400 on a mp only game and they can't provide me with local servers it just shows that they don't give a shit about us. If your at all serious about fps games you won't buy this.

There is no denying in short bursts it can be fun, but over all it sux when you have a huge disadvantage over the other players, I was the only guy in game with a latency of over 200 while everyone else was in the low 30-40's.

So would I buy it, No I would rather spend my cash on something I can play where the playing field is level or perhaps something with a damn good single player campaign, Thief comes to mind.

I agree with all your points. Played a few games with Cronus last night and we could both tell at what disadvantage we were with the ping. I lost several 1v1 fights where to me it looked like I reacted first but in the opponents kill cam I did nothing.

Yes the game is hella fun, but I can't see any serious longevity here. While I really liked it I don't feel like I need to play the full game, especially with the current latency.

This is what they need to do:

Get us local servers.
Up the human player count to a minimum of 16 per match (8v8)
Make the bots slightly better instead of just cannon fodder

Then I'll gladly buy it, heck even if they just give us local servers I would buy it.

Yep agreed, just local and I'll buy it. First time I saw the game I was like this one I'm definitely getting, but when I found out about the servers I decided against it, its a pity really, I really hope EA doesn't do this with most of the games they release, I'm looking forward to Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare and I'll be really pissed off if this servers is also running on the Azure cloud

Ok this is not what I'm used to in Crysis. 200 ping or higher I can compete, in this game it's not the same. Rounds were all player had ping of 200 I scored MVP, but when I go up against players that's got 50 ping ect it's a no win. Crysis had armor mode ect and that made a huge difference. Also u could slide out of enemy fire and get a quick hide a recharge your armor ect. I did state ping wont hurt in some of my earlier posts, but I withdraw them all. This kind of gameplay ping will make a huge difference. Unlike Crysis the kills are quicker and u need to react quick. I never played COD / BF ect. Not my kind of games, Crysis / Farcry / Unreal ect is more my type. The Game is good, not wow Awsome! It's fun and have huge potential, but the latency will be a factor that will see me canceling my Pre-Order.

Yup latency in this game makes a distinct difference and put anyone with a high ping at a clear disadvantage. If this game doesn't get local servers in going to fail in SA.

i agree with you on the locacl server. hate when a match is hosted by UK server.

A friend pointed out a valid thing. If they do not make local servers then someone will cracking the game and have local servers that are not hosted by Microsoft, something similar to what SA did with Hon. So titanfall will loose money in SA because we will download cracked game for free so we can play locally

Highly, highly doubtful.

Played it to crap last night, sadly the allure didn't hold and I found myself in BF pretty early. Hope the Final product is a little more robust. I'll be getting it late anyway :)

Played about 3 hours straight from 8-11 this morning. Leveled up all the way to lvl14

Strangely the latency didn't bother me so much, but I also noticed it more over long distances.
The bots need to be upgraded for sure. Stupid bots are one thing but when one has been standing next to me for 10sec taking pot shots while I've been owning everyone else and not kill me is beyond stupid.
I'd like to see what the game would be like at 8v8. Balance wise I think it's actually pretty good as is.

Overall... if it didn't get any worse.... I'd buy it. It's fun to play and I can see myself getting an hour or two each day till something better comes along.

I just hope that if they don't come out with local servers they don't try to market and sell this game to us, because I can see lots of people buying it. The game is really fun, but with the lag it's basically impossible to play.

Played a few games last. It doesn't run very well on my laptop though, jumpy, running fraps it was dropping to 29fps at certain times and other times it looked like I was playing with a strobe light on even though the frames were at 45+?
Its quite a lot of fun though, initially I thought I wouldn't enjoy it but I think it could be especially fun if you play it with a bunch of friends, and clan matches etc.
I only noticed the ping difference (mine was 214ms) once, when someone meleed me after I put a million bullets into him. But maybe that was just the melee mechanics that I'm just not used to, I dunno?

The lag is a bit much. I was jumping towards a wall started to wall run and got shot by a Titan. On the kill cam it showed me running on the ground towards the wall were I got shot. That was the final nail. Unlike Crysis the ping in this game make or break your play. I for one will no longer buy this game unless we get local servers. And note on the fraps issue, if u have an nvidea screen card try using shadowplay. Best recording software I've seen and used so far. Doesn't give u any frame drops while recording and the quality and sound is awesome.

I knew the fast paced double jumping nature of this game would mean latency would affect it more. This fucking sucks man was really looking forward to play it.Bad decisions who gives a shit about cloud ai let us p2p this game.Imagine if you bought a Xbone to play Titanfall in SA what a balls up that would be.

I pre-order this game in October already. Been like n little kid a few days before Christmas ever since. Constantly checking the news on Titanfall ect. Was so excited when I heard a Beta is coming even more when I saw it in my My Games Libriary. Started playing and was like all wow, but then after 20+ rounds I started picking up the lag. Even on the grunts and spectres. This was clear while using the smart pistol. Locking on is fine, but when it goes red and u pull the trigger that means the player is dead! Not on 283ping! That only means u got nailed by that same player (45ping) before u locked on. Awsome game and I'm a little sad about the whole ping issue, but will keep my eyes on the news regarding the servers. When we go local, I will be the first in line to buy this game!

After playing a bit of the beta I'm not going to be jumping in line to get it. At the moment it's not that amazing that it warrants dealing with the high ping.
