Trying to get into running, but I'm super fat.

I suppose a lot of the motivation goes along with what you want to achieve. Personally, I don't see myself as a long-distance marathon runner. I have a very big and wide frame, so getting bigger muscle tone etc. is more in line with what my body is built for. You don't see huge meat heads running marathons - there's a reason for that :D My aim is to become as big and intimidating as possible (no roids though. thanks).

At the risk of sounding like a moron in a thread where "everyone's an expert" - but if you're planning on doing aerobic exercises like running - then you need carbs. There are good carbs and there are bad carbs. But for what you're trying to do, which is "get into running" - going very low on carbs could make your goal a little harder to achieve.

i've heard lots of people who say they lost weight by NOT eating carbs at night. any truth to this trick ?

I just sip BCAA supplement while I workout. @Hiro I would think carbs would be stored the same at any time of the day?

Running might not be the best exercise if you got a heavy frame to start with. I would start with a stationary bike and swimming but the most important thing for weight loss is diet. Lifting weights is also a good way to burn calories through out the day and not just during your exercise like running or anything aerobic.

I disagree a little bit. I follow Scoobysnetwork on Youtube (awesome channel and site btw). And the one thing that cannot be stressed enough is that you HAVE to do cardio every single day. And the best form of cardio starts with......walking.

People underestimate how effective walking is at losing weight.

Carbs are only needed if you are an athlete. Beating times, and what not. Fats are more than sufficient for fuel. One such example, as much as I despise the craze, is crossfit. Paleo is no carbs to an extent. And those dudes are seriously some of the fittest, albeit most moronic, people in the fitness industry.

I don't eat carbs after 5pm. It works.

All you are doing is reducing your overall carb intake. There have been numerous studies showing that meal timing has no effect on weight loss at all. Hence intermittent fasting came about...and works.

I never said he must not do cardio I said running might not be the best thing for a person that's carrying a lot of weight. Walking is a good fat burner but takes a lot of time so depending on the amount of time you have it might not be an option.

In all honesty, any sort of movement is going to make you lose weight. Calories in vs calories out. All you're doing is creating a deficiency. So you can walk for 20min and not have that 120Cal piece of food, or run for 20 min, and can.

The good thing with my weight, is that I carry it well. As in, I can move, and stuff. lol. I'm not an armchair ridden dude. Heck, i can even jump yo! ;)

It's the same thing...

'IF' means you can eat whenever you want...9pm, 10pm, 12pm. Meaning, it doesn't matter that you eat before bed. That's the only reason why people slack off the carbs at night.

"IF" also holds value in eating only during 8 hours daily, then fasting the rest - which is basically what I said :p

I was under the assumption that you meant carbs before bed is a no no. Not the time period through the day. Misunderstood you.

However, it is the same thing as no carbs before bed - so either IF contradicts itself, or no carbs before bed works.
