Twilight: New Moon (Spoilers)

Tonight was the night, New Moon. Not speaking about Monday nights moon phase here in Cape Town, but rather the Twilight version of New Moon. Finally the first screening since the posters were put up so many moons ago a vampire would only remember. Okay enough of the play on words, it could get lame... like Twilight? Lets see...

Firstly the mid-night release at V&A Waterfront was an interesting experience non-the less to add to my opinion of Twilight and its fans. A third of the ticket holders would be of course the fairer sex which as often as Jacob or Edward took off their shirts would shriek for the duration of that scene. I do not recall shrieking every time Megan Fox pulled a few moves in Jennifers Body. Gotta love Twilight fans.

The film would most likely please dedicated followers of the saga more so than random movie-goers like myself. I felt the start and mid section to be drawn out containing repetitive focus; attempting to recreate an emotional understanding for the viewer being limited by the ability the medium of film can offer.

The compliments box fills up quickly when mentioning the directing and cinematography, there were many breathtaking scenes depicting the landscape and surroundings in a way truly professional. So then we have great scene execution with some not so bad acting; that said Kristen Stewart (Bella) could improve her performing ability somewhat by easing up slightly, her appearance of constantly being in pain or suffering some sort of constipation is over emphasised. I am uncertain what Bella's personality traits are from the books, but I intuitively feel she is getting it slightly wrong bringing the persona to the big screen.

Key following points in watching Twilight was Bella's relationship with Jacob; understanding the situation he was placed in with Bella. A genuine scenario some guys would possibly be able to relate to. Bella openly admits her reason for wanting him around, a fact the same aforementioned "some guys" are not usually given notice of. Well done there to Taylor Lautner's acting ability to portray accurately his state of being. A negative viewing point would be Edward drifting away but staying present at the same time. Nausea presented itself along with Edward every scene he would popped to linger around as Bella is longing for him in her thoughts. I felt we got the message a long time ago.

One thing is for certain, the fans are there and the support is there, around the corner is most probably EA wanting to make a video game adaptation. Cult Twilight strengthens tonight. Eclipse next.

What has been your take on Twilight/Twilight New Moon?

Some things u say are true. Definately enjoyed the cinematography. Having read the books numerous times, I think that Kristen Stewart brings Bella to life perfectly as throughout the entire book she is in pain due to the fact that Edward left her. I think one can only comment on that aspect if u have read the books. And you mention being nusea setting in when Edward appears to Bella whenever she was about to do something reckless, well that is how it was portrayed in the book. He being her conscience. That was the whole point of her doing what she did. And each scene where she does something stupid was from the book, so I liked the fact that they put all of that in and didn't leave it out.
Yes, Twilight fans are a dedicated bunch as I saw quite a few Team Jacob or Team Edward shirts there last night. The screaming was to be expected I think. I guess guys don't scream like girls hey?
Dakota Fanning did a brilliant role as Jane. Looked really eveil and can't wait to see more of her in the coming films.

Overall, I thought it lived up to my expectations and more and would easily go see it again! Definately one of the best book adaptations I have seen in a while. Unlike the last Harry Potter movie where they left out the most important part of the book..

wait ...

MissM has an 80 'lock on WoW?!?

Why does nobody tell me these things...?

Sorry, Voicy, but u never asked ;)

It's cool. I thought you were new to MMO's since you were keen on starting guild wars.

It's nothing like WoW and you might get irritated if you try and compare. How far is it coming along anyway?

Sorry about derailing the thread, but hey - at least I'm not ranting about how crap twilight is, right?

rofl. yeah :) Yeah, I am definately not going to compare the two as they are completely different. Been playing WoW for about 2 years now.

GW is coming along. Haven't played much as I recently bought a game card for WoW and don't wanna waste it. What I have experienced has been good though. I am Level 6 atm, so still have to get out of the noob area :)

I was under the correct impression a person could make a thread and speak about anything in the off topic section. Derailment is one thing, talking down a topic being discussed in a thread you derailed to begin with is another scenario all on it own. Try play nice, kay. All good now.

Nah you're right dude...I just wanted to comment on MissM's sig and it went on a bit long.

I only referred to the twilight thing because you'd normally expect guys to flame anything twilight related. I was merely saying that I wasn't here to do that.

Back to the original post ... interesting review.

The movie would have been so much better if Edward wasn't a glittery faggot and Bella actually took the time to get a restraining order on his watch-while-your-sleeping-ass.

Vampires are things from the depth of hell not some chicks fantasy.

exactly :)

You guys are looking at this all wrong...

The amount of Twilight you subject yourself to is directly proportional to the speed of a girl's panties dropping for you.

It's kinda like being a professional rugby player ... except not as gay. :D

Not sure if I'd watch the movies, but I'm not against giving the books a go. But it could be a cool chickflick movie.

+1 Voicy :) And no, I am not in my teens :p What he says is true, women are really impressed if you can chat about Twilight to her. Even if you don't like it, just pretend...That's how it is for me anyway..;) Or don't rip the movie off and say how gay it is should she mention it..Will probably be a big mistake on your part. lol

The gay reference was to rugby players. :p
