Upgrading PC advice please

The PSU is way overboard for that system. Allot of money extra for something you do not need.
Also, I would recommend investing in a nice razor keyboard/mouse! Really works wonders.
8gig ram for your editing is highly recommended as well.

For some reason that price really does look overpriced. Check out evetech, think you can get a better pc there for the same price, overclocked with a warranty to boot ! :)

All I can say is lol

Evetech is hugely over priced.

For video editing:

What is needed:

1) Enough RAM (about 8GB should do.)
2) Good GFX card (GTX560Ti is a minimum)
3) Proper CPU (The 2500 is good and can perform better than a 2600 if overclocked) But I would stick with the 2600. Just personal pref because it handles 1600 RAM better.
4) Good RAM. For editing 1600MHz DDR3 RAM is good. It makes zero difference in gaming, but it helps a lot with compression/video editing/etc

As for the PSU, it is way too much. You need that kind of power if you are running SLI top level GTX580/590's (or ATI equivalents)
A 750W PSU should be more than enough for a single card configuration.

I got my rig (Chassis included) for R10k a couple of months ago. I didn't need to buy a screen/keyboard/mouse or Windows. I know that that can up the price quite a bit. But even with those additional components I would only have been looking at R14K-15K max. So you are really being charged more than is needed.

My RIG
Mobo: Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3
CPU: i7-2600
RAM: 2x2GB DDR3 1600CorsairXMS
Hard Drive: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
ROM: DVD-W/RW Combo
Graphics Card: Leadtech GTX560Ti
PSU: Thermaltake 750W
Case: Gigabyte Sumo 5115 (This was just pure for the prettiness. One can get away with better cases for a lot cheaper)

Just a comparison for you to consider. I would really let Joker help you. He really does seem to know what he is talking about and he is right in his earlier comments on the 1st page about a 2GB GFX card and only really needing a 2500k.

Not only will you pay more for the overpowered PSU, but having a PSU that is over the rating for your system makes it run much hotter. All the energy that isn't used for powering your system has to be vented, and that happens in the form of heat.

The amount of power delivered by the PSU (obviously limited to its max rating) is solely dependent on the load it's connected to. It doesn't produce all of its power at all times.

I agree, massively overpriced. You won't need a bigger than 700W PSU. You should likely be fine with 585W. The CPU comes with it's own heatsink and fan combination so that will cover your cooling needs. If you really want to you can buy a off-the-shelf heatsink and fan combination a few years later, but for now the box set will do just fine. As per everything in life, get several quotations and make up your own mind. Don't just accept what the sales guy pitches.

I totaly agree with Wyzak, there are so many guys out there that will do anything to get the deal, hel theyll even sell your own software back to you.
