it's called a line upgradeI hate steam, with a passion. Its slow, sluggish, games take forever to load, there are always ridiculous updates.
It is just crap.

Bull shit, what has the load time of games got to do with line speed? Its poor programming is what it is.![]()

Steam is a bit fail sometimes. It just freezes and windows borders appears around the windows and it stops responding... :L
I've got a 4mb line and it still does crap like that. It never used to though, it's only after they gave it the facelift. But steam is an awesome tool nonetheless.![]()

I'm not sure technically why, but apparently EVERYTHING. I had similar problems when I was on 512k. Games would take forever "Preparing to launch...........................". When I upgraded to 4mb, Steam became gaming heaven.
IMO, PC gaming would be dead (or at least FAR worse off than it is now) if it wasn't for Steam and Valve. The amount of sales they are responsible for definitely keeps publishers and developers interested. It has also given indie developers with very tight budgets a lifeline to get their games out to the masses.
+1
NOt to mention providing an excellent platform for episodic content like Monkey Island and Sam n Max. Imagine having to buy separate episodes on CD/DVD.
i can, it's called half life....
Look at it this way: Would Pick 'n Pay sell Woolworths frikkadels?Haha, retail stores don't get it. They won't carry Steam games because they are afraid that people will rather buy the game on Steam. What do they think will happen if they don't carry the game at all?
