Watch Dogs official thread (PC and Console)

This garbage needs to stop. ASAP. If you're not having issues and you're enjoying the game, good for you! Just stop telling everyone else off and making excuses. I must say, Wyzak, I am very surprised that you of all people are defending what is one of the poorer launches in recent history.

Yep, I would have been pissed off had I been affected, but I would have just shelved the game until the issues were fixed - goodness knows I have enough other games to play. These issues to me are teething issues, they aren't fundamental design flaws like always-online is in Diablo III, or was in Simcity. Or publisher pressure to release an unfinished game like BF4.

I really don't see the need to hate a game that I'm actually having a great deal of fun in. I don't see the need to hate the publisher when they've at least to me delivered what I paid them for.

It looks like I'm one of the fortunate ones actually able to launch the game, and play the game without any massive issues. Hopefully all of you will be in the same boat.

post2:
Ok we are never going to reach an agreement on this. I can't agree that the issues are unfixable - at least not on PC. So I'll finish with this - it's risky business pre-ordering these days. I hope that all of you will think twice about pre-ordering a game in the future. I know I certainly do.

I am sorry for the issues that you guys are experiencing but I really hope that you will be able to play the game soon. And I hope that when you play the game you actually find it enjoyable. Give me a shout whenever and I'll gladly pop-in for some co-op messing around or whatever.

These issues to me are teething issues,

And that's where I disagree. Games should not have such severe teething issues at release. We wouldn't accept it if our car ships with multiple 'minor' manufacturer faults that had to be fixed down the line and I certainly don't think we should accept it if videogames ship in this state. Being a digital product is not an excuse for lack of quality control.

And that's exactly what this is. Poor quality control. Or better yet, almost non-existent quality control. I'm not even going to beat around the bush here, because this problem is directly the fault of people like you. Apologists who stopped demanding proper quality control and instead started demanding the customers accept that games don't ship in a good state. You should be angry that a publisher allowed a game to ship in this state in the first place (regardless of whether you actually experience the issues or not), but instead you're coming up with excuses for it.

Guys don't get me wrong here i'm not defending anything nor will i defend a bad game if it's bad i'll say it, and i'm no fanboy of ubisoft, i feel sorry for the guys going through the frustrations they are with this game but no need to attack me for not having problems. I'm one of the first people to voice my opinion if i have shit with a game.

If i get problems later on i will sure as heel complain about it but at this moment in time i'm happy my game delivers and i haven't experience any of the frustration some guys here have so please don't get me wrong here i say again i don's support or condone what is happening to such a hyped title the has cost some people a lot of hard earned money

Exactly, and it's happening with every single game these days. On people's machines that have spent ridiculous amounts of money of these people's products.

I think it's a fair idea to start a thread with the intent on discussing the gameplay of Watch Dogs because this general discussion thread is definitely going to be filled with a lot of complaining about the launch :P

I wish I could try the game out and give my opinion on it.

I have created a new thread for actual gameplay discussions and for guys/gals who are enjoying the game and would like to join up or hack each other. Please join me in http://mygaming.co.za/forum/showthread.php/38463-Watchdogs-official-gameplay-thread. I'm unsubscribing from this thread as it has derailed into a rage fest.

This is pretty ironic, considering this is pretty much exactly what you were accused of in the Simcity thread last year, now you've done a 180 degree turn and you're sitting with your fingers in your ears squarely on the other side of the fence.

Very curious. ;)

It really isn't. My issues with Simcity were based on fundamental design decisions like always-online play on a game that has no reason for requiring it. They have since then learnt from their mistake and patched it out.

We have no reason to suspect at the moment that the dll errors, or the micro-stutters are as a result of fundamental design decisions which can't simply be fixed in a patch.

I'm saying that at the time you were accused of continuously posting negative things while other users were trying to discuss the game, now you're accusing us of turning this thread into a 'rage fest.'

Because apparently how dare we complain about being sold an unoptimized game that many customers still haven't even been able to play?!

;)

I'd like to believe that you are welcome to have an opinion as I am. I have explained my reasoning.

So... I'm around ten hours in and feeling bored of the gameplay... It's starting to feel really repetitive :(

fek :( thats what i was also afraid off. i really want to do all the towers and find all the hotspots, etc as it tickles my OCD. but i fear it may just be too much of the same, over and over
