Watch Dogs official thread (PC and Console)

Yup. Adds a nice element to the game :)

I did not expect to enjoy the online-racing element so much because I don't enjoy racing games at all, but it's almost Mario-karty. And the minigames? I had a blast in the spider-tank one and the carmaggedon-ish one.

In other news...

(SEMI-)SPOILER ALERT:

Just heard over the radio, "Police are interested in the whereabouts of the Vigilante, Aiden Pearce..."

Yet, a couple of missions ago, I broke into prison to shut some guy up to protect his identity...

:wtf:

This game...

Edit:

Woops... Didn't see you'd responded. Yeah, the minigames are pretty fun the first time you do them, but not much incentive to really keep doing them :o

I do like the online interaction with other players though :)

Looks like the two best temporary fixes for the micro-stuttering are:
1) Changing resolution to 1680x900 appears to improve / completely eradicate the issue
2) Disabling the sound.

Obviously disabling the sound isn't a reasonable fix for now, but I'd be interested to hear if it makes a difference. I probably won't have time to play tonight or I would have tested it myself.

So another game breaking issue, after being forced to play offline because Ubisoft are useless, my save game will not sync with the cloud...From what I understand because the servers continually drop the save games won't sync for the time being. Kind of annoying really, thinking of uninstalling this rubbish until its patched.

I can somewhat sympathise with you all, buying a game and getting a pile of shit instead, having no way to gain your money back from your purchase you attempt to get "your monies worth" out of the game but to no avail. Some of you are unable to even get past the install on the PC, when it does run albeit badly you are riddled with game breaking bugs, bad AI, silly mechanics and various other oddities.

I am somewhat glad I decided not to go and get this for PS4 or PC, despite the average 8 rating it's getting from reviewers. I rather had a look at what people that were not payed to play the game had to say, and it was shocking. It looks to be like a early beta release of what is supposed to be a game.

It feels like Ubi is going like EA, push it out bugs and all, consumers thinking they are getting a finished product will buy it and Ubi will eventually fix it. Sadly by that time peoples interest in the game has waned and would have moved onto something else.

Is Watch_Dogs worth buying right now?

Are there any additional downloads that need to be done before you can play?

I may consider trying to get this.

That depends on who you ask, you might be better off asking that question in the gameplay thread. I would say yes, others here would say no. Some people are having issues getting into the game, others are having issues with the game, others aren't having any significant issues.

It depends how much you can get it for. How often do you buy games at full price? I tend to either pre-order and get a great deal or wait for the first 40%+ discount and then buy it. Maybe hold a few weeks and see if they can fix the issues stopping people from getting into the game, and if they can fix the stuttering. If those issues are gone, I'd say definitely yes.

I got some gametime in last night on my PC. I'm running the game at high so far but my anti-aliasing does not work. I tried to turn it on and suddenly my Aiden turned into a ghost and i could see through walls, very trippy.

Still i'm having fun and no serious issues, maybe because i've kept my u-play offline since I registered the game.

Holy cow! After verifying the files again for the umpteenth time, the game launched! Time to start enjoying it, I hope :P

Great stuff, holding thumbs for your part! Just bear with it through the first 20 odd minutes. I didn't like that part, but loved it once I reached the open area and could do whatever I wanted.

What sort of rigs are you guys running it on ? is it optimised does it look as good as it should ?
Is the gameplay amazing or mediocre ?
Is it just GTA with a Phone ?

lol. No, but it doesn't look terrible. Performance isn't optimised at all though.

I find it mediocre, but it has a few good elements to it. I'm just struggling to sit still and play it right now.
Is it just GTA with a Phone ?
Sort of?

Perhaps I will just wait this one out then , or perhaps it will end up like AC3 that I never completed or AC4 that looked great to get but
something better caught my attention and I spent my cash on that

I've done about an hour so far and it's not running well at all for me. On both the lowest or moderate-high settings the frame rate chugs hard times, especially while driving.

From what I've seen so far, in terms of the graphics, I can't see why this would be.

Previous Ubisoft games such as AC4 and Splinter Cell Blacklist ran very well on my rig, and those were seriously pretty games. Blacklist had superb lighting and shadows, and AC4 was vibrant, detailed, and boasted some great weather effects and of course the epic high-seas battles, which require some hefty processing to pull off.

Very sad that they didn't get this running as smoothly.

I'll try fiddle with some optimisation guides tomorrow, otherwise I might just be waiting for the patch to hopefully improve performance.

GTX 570, with an i7 950. Running everything on medium at 1920x1080. Runs well on my rig except for the micro-stutters that most people seam to be experiencing irrespective of graphics level.
