Watch Dogs official thread (PC and Console)

It's sad really, I have always considered Ubisoft to be a good game publisher. I have been a fan of a LOT of their games, and looking forwards to few future titles. But something like this, you'd think it would tarnish their reputation.

Nah dude - people are making a huge fuss over a simple game when there are MUCH bigger issues in the world. Just don't allow yourself to get caught up in hype machines and you won't fall prey to disappointment. Ubisoft is a great production house (except for the UPlay service) just look at far cry and assassins creed.

I agree with this but let me tell you that besides it's performance issues on the Pc Watchdogs is a very solid game is it as good as Gta5 no but imho that it is only the second open world game that I have played that actually makes you believe that you are in a living breathing city and is really cool just walking around looking at the sights and sounds of Chicago.I also have to say that it whips assassins creed in the game play variety department.I hope that the new asscreed has these improvements to animation's and npc behavior.

Makes me wonder how many of the vocal people are using pirated copies with bitcoin miners built into them.

If you're trying to imply that the performance complaints are directly related to this, then no. I've got a legit version on uPlay and I'm still having performance issues.

If you've got a bitcoin miner running on your system you'll notice decreased performance in all games, not just one.

And yet here you are, posting on the same forum about the same discussion. Come on dude, don't even.

There's problems in the world, but that doesn't mean we can take a few mins of our time to discuss a topic of momentary interest.

So have there been any new updates or anything with regards to the PC version of this?

I'm still keen to get it, but not in it's broken state, especially seeing as I have an ATi card.

You won't get an objective opinion here unfortunately. If you have the money and you are willing to handle a few issues, or won't mind too much shelving it for a while if you are unfortunate to experience a lot of issues get it. Alternatively wait a few months and pick it up for a very good price, by then there should be more patches out as well.

Shot bud, I might do that.

Alternative, I'm thinking of getting a PS4 soon (my bday coming up :) ) and I may get it for the console instead.

Have you finished the game yet?

I hope you're including yourself in that sweeping statement, at least?

I have a Radeon 5800 and the game was running okay-ish for me (medium settings, 1920x1200, it starts stuttering after a few hours of gaming).

I'm one of those who have shelved the game, not because of the stuttering or other issues, but because 26 hours in (according to Uplay) I do not find it fun to play anymore.

Nope, but plan to.

I'm 'here' aren't I?

Are you happy with 26 hours, or did you expect more? Personally I expect about 15-20 hours of gameplay from most games. After 20 I often start wishing it over.

Like you I also expect/enjoy 15-20 hours of gameplay. After 20 or so hours into a game, I tend to want to try something else.

That said, most of Watch Dogs honestly felt like a slog. But I'm the type of gamer that likes a good story with good character(s). Watch Dogs didn't really satisfy in that respect.

To give a counter-example: The Witcher (and The Witcher 2) are examples of games I shelved after 15-20 hours of play, but I was happy with it and returned to finish The Witcher before The Witcher 2, and expect to do the same with The Witcher 2 before The Witcher 3.

In hindsight, I wouldn't really recommend getting it now. Wait a couple of months, even a year until the next Steam sale. It's been a couple of weeks since I finished the game, and have to admit that the experience has already faded in my mind. Nothing special to remember. Rather wait.
