When I say I ignore them, I mean that I won't responds directly to them, I just stay uninvolved, until they prove they would be valuable members, not completely write them off as spammers, and for me, that usually takes about a 100 posts.

I do agree that we are a small bunch, but it's like it's each to his own, free for all, every man for himself. That's a load of BS. But it's like that everywhere, not only in the SA gaming community. Why can't we be different and actually give a s**t?

at least here there is no fucking retard talk about isreal VS palastine. however if you are realistic about why this is happening and why the comments is being flung, you might find yourself in the wrong imho.

not all, but some are just here to jack up their posts and fuckoff without contribution, they i would say fits the comments. unfortunately some might as well get them undeserving, but i would venture that it's a very few cases.

it's tiring if you post your hearts content out in a post/thread and then get some slacker just saying "ahah" which clearly was not aimed at contribution to the thread but rather just ++.

it's also my opinion that you should at least make note that not all of us are like this and not just sweep us all with the same brush as i would say this is exactly the thing you want us not to do to the new comers, but you do it yourself *shrugs*.

OT, even more tiring are some here imho who seem to be "better" and when shown in a bad light must retaliate so their coolness doesn't dry up.

i've in 90% of the cases contributed and helped where humanly possible, and with due course remarked at well deserved in either a light heartily manner or more plain that it was a ++.

i'm sorry but i disagree and do not see the whole community as you declared us to be as you think we are.

From what I've seen those posts are ignored anyway, rightfully so, why then reply with a personal attack accusing them of spamming. My point its that it might be better to ignore it and let the mods deal with it.

It goes without saying that its only a few individuals who are guilty of this, I did not deem it necessary to point out those individuals and never did I exclude myself from post. Hence the post name "we are not a welcoming bunch" and not "you lot are not a welcoming bunch"

Well like it or not we are a community, my post was merely addressed to all because this requires the attention of the entire community and not individuals. My intention was never to show the community in a bad light, merely to point out a observation I've had. You are entitled to disagree with me, thats what this thread was created for :)
 
Anyhoo... this is all just paper talk. If you want to see an unwelcoming community - try the footy forums over at mybroadband. Now that's not for the meek at all.
 
I've been hanging around myBroadband and myGaming reading the news and forums but never posting but then when I do post I get sarcastic comments saying 'Will you be here after the competition is over". I had no intention of entering the competition. I was simply just posting on what looked like an interesting forum.
So thats how you get treated as a person with a low post count. When some one with a count of 120 or so says +1 there is no reply of spamming to that.
 
I was treated bad by one member I do not wish to name. He got fussy over one of my spelling mistakes. I WAS USING MY PHONE HOW MUCH HARDER IS IT TO EDIT SOMETHING MINOR!!!!

They are called Grammer/Spelling Nazis. They will still bother you even when you get to my post count.
 
At the end of this day we are a community and like any community, from the local chess club to D&D with a mate and some of his mates, when you are new your not going to be the main man/woman straight away. Your going to have to prove urself, to show the rest rest of the people that you are in for the long haul.

Why should it be any differnt on here?
