I have the Samsung 10.1 Galaxy Tab. I've used it for a few functions I can see some opportunities were it could be leveraged for business. The market place is great.

I've also had the opportunity to work with iPads and it is also very solid technology in my opinion.

Another aspect to think about is scalability. Can the product be scaled to your needs and possibly for-fill any future needs?

I'm happy with the Galaxy Tab thus far although running multiple app's seem to hurt it's performance somewhat.

Hehehe Grim. The only issue I have is that it doesn't have 3G support. I dig the device and it is nice and compact. But data on the go is a MUST.

Yeah I guess for a lot of people that is a must, but there is always the option of tethering, IE use your phone as a wireless hot spot, do that with my iPad and iPhone and works great. That way you don't need to have 2 data bundles.

I personally don't need mobile data so much, I just use my phone. What I love about the nexus 7 is the size, it fits so nicely into your hand. Whereas my iPad just feels to large for most things.

Yeah man, that is one of my major concerns...that the bigger tablets turn out to be large and clunky. But then again, I like to see differentiation between a tablet and a phone, so screen size does apply there. Tethering is an option, yeah. I do that a lot with my iPhone and my Chromebook.

Just to put this into perspective, do you mean handwriting-wise?

Yes, guess I should have explained better. If your gonna write notes, draw pictures, diagrams and so on, get a stylus. Handwriting it horrid without it, imagine a doctor writing left-handed on the back of a raging bull and blindfolded.

You can do a lot with Android too :wtf:
You can do tons with Android. It's the most popular OS for tablets and smartphones at the moment, and with a damn fine reason too. Apple is over-priced in comparision, and since their Samsung barney, just no.

Something James picked up a few days ago:

As for the OP's question. The trade-off comes with the 3G/4G capability, tablets are generally cheaper with wi-fi only.

Google Nexus 7 without a doubt, or maybe something like the Playbook.

Yeah. That guy I was quoting seemed to not understand that both iOS and Android can do pretty much anything. You can't use "it can do pretty much anything" when comparing features of Android and iOS.

On a side note: switched over to FNB yesterday. Seems like I am getting the new iPad after all. Just need to decide if I want that or the Galaxy.

I've been using the Google Nexus 7 for a while now, and I'm pretty happy. Granted, I don't really have anything to compare it to since this was my first exposure to tablets, but it works like a charm. The lack of 3G is a bit of an issue, but I'm planning on getting a cellphone in January that can provide internet to the tablet by acting as a Wifi router. Then I'll be unstoppable :)

bit the bullet after , much research and back and forth
got myself a Samsung 10.1 P5100
Nexsus size and no 3G counted it out (in every other respect that is one damn awesome Machine )
Ipad well Sadly Apple just sucks when it comes to what want to do with a Tablet (Point to note Chameleon Launcher for Tablets =win )
As for the cheapy ones looked at and used 2 the MoMo star and some other thing , while they work and dont look bad they are laggy and once stressed with apps fail miserably.

In the end Samsung did the trick way over my expected price range but still a win .

Awesome man, let me know what you think of it after using it for a week or so.

I've been sort of looking at the Prestigio MultiPad. It looks like a decent tab at a good price, does anyone here have experience with Prestigio? Or the Multipad? I'd love to root this thing and put some other rom on at some point in time.

Venom this might be a little late but I would go for a Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II - which goes for about R1200 incl delivery from Novo's online shop.

It's adual core 1.2 ghz, 1GB DDR3 memory 7" tablet. Sure it's only 7I but the included 16GB memory should make up for that. It's a very fast tablet with acceptable build quality. Comes with a year warranty. Should make it a easy decision.
