I finally got around to finishing Fable3 that I started ages ago. I don't quite know why I even bothered.
Because you can't buy new games unless you finish old ones.

Yep Fable 3 was one huge disappointment.
Well yes. This is exactly why I started going through my list of old games before I'm allowed to buy Skyrim.
It's more than that. I bought my xbox upon hearing that Lionhead Studios was releasing Fable2. I can't tell you how ecstatic I was, considering just how damn awesome Fable1 was. Fable2 on its own wasn't a terrible game, but in comparison to Fable1, it was atrocious. I honestly expected them to learn from it and make F3 a better game. To an extent they did (half decent looking weapons), but as a whole, they failed.
What made Fable1 such an epic experience for me was:
1) Choices (fair enough, the sequels kept true to this)
2) Gear sets - from the assassin suit to the 3 different plate mail suits, they all looked amazing and had different stats. Something F2 & F3 missed out on completely.
3) Legendary weapons - don't get me started on F2. Fable3's weapons started looking better, but were still tained by post-modern / victorian frills. Nothing can compete with the harbinger, bereaver, avon's tear, etc. They looked like a proper bad ass hero's weapon of choice.
4) Demon doors & silver key rewards - I have no words.
