What are you reading right now?

I haven't really read a book in like a year. Finally started again. Reading the song of ice and fire series ( FINALLY) at book 4 atm.

I'm always busy with at least 3 books at any one time.

Fiction:

It's very cool finally reading this after having played the games. I was worried it wouldn't leave much up to the imagination, but the games barely scratched the surface with what Frank Herbert's universe.

Non-Fiction:

Excellent dark fantasy series. This is the first book of the Cold Fire Trilogy. Very few characters (I didn't enjoy that Game of Thrones had so many characters), and they're all done superbly.

Currently reading, started yesterday, The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan.

That's what I'm reading at the moment, I keep wondering how it would turn out if they'd churn out a TV series for The Wheel of Time (I know there's no hope of that ever happening:rolleyes:).

In a nutshell, it's basically Superheroes vs. Zombies. At first I thought this would be a satire, or a joke book... but it's a completely serious novel with a very well developed story and plot and characters. Turning out to be one of the most enjoyable novels I've come across.

Universal studios have bought the rights to the WoT and that's pretty serious as they could have just optioned the rights. Brandon Sanderson says their doing the screenplay to it but I have my doubts. Each book would have to be a single movie and no studio would be crazy enough to commit the resources to finish the whole thing plus a few of the books from 6-10 aren't great. My ideal scenario is a television series of five seasons with 24 episodes each. Every season covering three books. Long enough to do justice to each book while finishing the whole lot in a time frame that is possible but I still see it as a long shot.

That seems like the best way to go if they want to make it work, I actually hope they don't go the movie franchise route.

A piece of me dies when my friends tell me this, especially since I just recently finished Book 4 and I'm pretty much at the point of no return...
