What are you reading right now?

On top of reading Dragon Champion, I'm also reading Knife of Dreams (Wheel of Time #11). For the latter, Crusader is among a few folk who are to blame:rolleyes:. Thank goodness the 12 chapters I've read thus far make it a much better book than book 10.

Post Office - Charles Bukowski

Crazy story about nothing really. Just this bored alcoholic postman's kak life. Its kind of funny and sad but the book is excellent in its simplicity.

I got hooked on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child (real name Jim Grant). I've finished the first two and started the third. It is intelligent skop-skiet-en-donner and highly recommended if you like the action and suspense genre.

There is, however, a humungous elephant in the room that needs to be addressed: Jack Reacher likes to shrug. As a matter of fact, I think it's a nervous tick.
In the first Jack Reacher novel (Killing Floor) "shrug", "shrugs" or "shrugged" appears 123 times. This may not sound like a lot for a whole novel, but lets count a few other words:

The main character is named Jack Reacher.

"Jack Reacher" appears 9 times.
"Jack" appears 79 times.
"Reacher" appears exactly 100 times.

In "Die Trying" (the second novel) "shrug", "shrugs" or "shrugged" appears 138 times.

Once you notice it, it can get pretty off-putting.

I finnished reading Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. Great book, read it in a couple days. I love how he makes characters interesting and sort of real. Not the hollywood kind where they are perfect killing machines with nano second timing or perfectly toned bodies.

Only thing to me about the book in my very humble opinion, was the ending, felt a bit flat and anti climatic. Not bad in the least, but I was hoping for a bit more oomph.

Love his and Dean Koonz books, Odd Thomas is amazing.

One other thing, anyone noticed that in many of Koontz's books, the mother of a character (both the good and bad guys) is the worst type of mother, either psycho, insane or abusive, etc. Or the bad guy thinks women are evil and sex is the worst sin ever.

Started with Winter Moon by Dean Koontz. Love my Note 10.1. Awesome to read from it. In my car I listen to audio books, great for when traffic is heavy.

Currently reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. That book gives me uneasy feelings, some people in this country think just like the deluded characters in the book.

I'm busy reading "Do androids dream of electric sheep?". The movie leaves some important aspects of the book out. I guess that's normal though. In fact, I'm three chapters in and none of what has happened there was in the movie. Great book though, and Bladerunner was a decent movie.

One day, when you have the time, read "We can remember it for you wholesale" and then compare it to the movie "Total Recall".

I recently finished reading Knife of Dreams (Wheel of Time #11), and I must say it's restored my faith completely in the Wheel of Time series :D. I've already moved onto The Gathering Storm (Wheel of Time #12)

Is this real life:eek:?

I shit you not, yesterday I read We Can Remember It For You Wholesale and started with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Freaky coincidence indeed

Yay! Now you're ahead of me. I haven't gotten to book #12 yet. Remember from now on it's Brandon Sanderson working from Robert Jordans notes.

It's actually exciting to think of that. Thus far I'm enjoying the shift in writing style :D

It's been while since I last posted here but started reading Lewis Hamilton: My Story a few weeks back. Enjoying it and really inspirational thus far :)

I'm currently reading A Memory of Light (Wheel of Time #14), I must say I'm loving what Brandon Sanderson has done with Jordan's characters :D.

Hey guys, I've been reading a lot Dean and King lately, but I'm looking for a change of pace.

Last read was The Taking by Dean Koontz, Brilliant book, ending leaves you dumbstruck. One of those books that leaves you thinking for a long while, love those. Currently busy with Shadowfires, not too shabby.

But, I'm looking for something diffirent, kinda like in the Lord Of The Rings genre. I'm not too sure if I want to get into Wheel Of Time now, seems like a marathon read. Not saying they are the same, but I mean magic and swords. I wish I could forget LOTR and read it all over again as if for the first time. heck, I'l even settle for The Hobbit. Oh and please dont suggest The Silmarillion, that books makes my head spin with names and places. :)

Anyone care to suggest something?

Also, I've tried to get into Stephen Kings Dark Tower series, but somehow didnt grab me.

I'm finally done with Wheel of Time after reading A Memory of Light (WoT #14). Let me tell you, the last three books make the journey really worthwhile.

I just started reading Stormdancer (The Lotus War #1) by Jay Kristoff.

Think long and hard before getting into Wheel of Time. I'm very wary about recommending the books because yes, it's an amazing series with great characters, plot, world, and overall lore. But there be some low points in the series (and I mean low). In any case, it's one option (and I'm a newb when it comes to the fantasy genre, being a heavy sci-fi fan). If you haven't read Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, get on that.
