J. Edgar Hoover, perhaps at the behest of Richard Nixon, investigated ex-Beatle John Lennon by putting the singer under surveillance, and Hoover wrote this letter to the Attorney General of the United States, John N. Mitchell, in 1972. A 25-year battle by historian Jon Wiener under the Freedom of Information Act eventually resulted in the release of documents like this one.

The winner: Foozball3000. However, your bona fide genius does not excuse the general lack of imagination we've had to endure these last few days. Congratulations nonetheless, please find joy in the following prize handbag. It comes with a matching outfit, which will help you acquire even more handbags. Use responsibly.

Poopy prize goes to StaggerLee (no sponsors were forthcoming, so words will have to do). Please note that poop will be withdrawn should you provide a valid and convincing explanation as to how and where you happened upon your information.

I haven't visited this thread in ages and I wanted to check whether I was right or not and all I got was a Poopy prize!??! For being correct?!? Why!?!?

I genuinely knew the answer to this question because I knew that Lennon was investigated by the FBI at some point and then the fact that it talked about his drug convictions and the fact that he donated money to a leftist organisation. It was a shot in the dark, but given the year, I came to the correct answer.

Well, I guess it hurts a little to not be validated, but at least I got a poopy prize...

Because this thread is not about being right, it's about being imaginative, which can be a lot more difficult.

Patients at the Zhengzhou Central Hospital in China have access to this $2,800 machine. Designed as an entirely automated and hands-free solution, the massaging device comes with a wide range of customizable features that allow patients to adjust the temperature, amplitude, frequency and speed to his liking. The machine also features a display screen and a surround sound system users can connect to using headphones.

Still in the dark? This is the sperm extractor. It features a lovely pink trim and yes, the video screen is used for displaying erotic images. The machine is portable and can be adjusted for height. Hospital director Zhu Guoxin says the one thing he wants to make clear is that the machine is not being used to collect donor sperm but rather to help treat those suffering from fertility problems. “When male infertility patients come for treatment (no pun intended), we must first fully inspect the sperm which requires sperm extraction. This machine is only recommended for patients that had difficulty retrieving sperms, user must use a condom, but lubricant and chemicals on condoms will affect the accuracy of the test results.”

For coming up with a lovely new word, namely 'blodd', the winner is TBlaar. Your prize:
