What movie did you last watch thread.

I watched the Lazarus Effect yesterday. It was disappointing. I mean it's got Olivia Wilde in it and that fact alone makes a movie worth watching but the movie could have been so much better.

woah how was that movie ?

it was... pretty good

best video game based movie to date (although the bar wasn't set real high in that genre)

It is mostly based on WoW. Burning Crusade to be precise.

I played a bit of WoW back in the day and got a couple of the "easter eggs", but I'm sure there's lots I missed.

But all in all it's an action filled CGI spectacular. Ragnar was great :p

I have 1 or 2 small gripes with it but nothing so major that it ruined the movie for me.

Get ready for a sensory, and information, overload!

I watched Warcraft over the weekend and I loved it. It did have its issues but overall an enjoyable watch.

It is not based on Burning Crusade, the events of Burning Crusade are still in the future. This was based on the First War between the Humans and the Orcs.

yeeeeaaaaah I don't know the first war. I was mostly just referring to the bit I do know from WoW :p

So me knowing nothing about WoW, can I watch this and comprehend what is going on?

The First War is basically the first Warcraft game. The Burning Crusade happens later, after the Second War (which is where your picture and Hellfire Peninsula comes in) :)

They did do some fan service in the movie though (or I suppose that is what it was), like Dalaran that is floating. That is supposed to only happen much later.

Yeah you'll be fine. Having played WoW you just know the names of all the areas/cities that feature in the film which is cool. It would be the same as watching the Avengers but not having read the comics, you still know what is going on but you have none of the backstory/prior knowledge going into it.

Went to see Warcraft this weekend.

I really enjoyed it. The story was good but there are a few loose ends in my opinion. Perhaps paving the way for a sequel?

Well there is still A LOT of Warcraft lore left for them to make movies with. This was just the First War! Go read the document I posted to get an idea of what else there still is. Obviously it will contain spoilers if you read it and don't really know Warcraft lore.

There has already been talks of a second movie which is great! The movie did not do good in the US but it did quite well in China, thankfully. Otherwise they would probably not have made a second one. I'm hoping they get the chance to make plenty more.
