What movie did you last watch thread.

Well there is still A LOT of Warcraft lore left for them to make movies with. This was just the First War! Go read the document I posted to get an idea of what else there still is. Obviously it will contain spoilers if you read it and don't really know Warcraft lore.

There has already been talks of a second movie which is great! The movie did not do good in the US but it did quite well in China, thankfully. Otherwise they would probably not have made a second one. I'm hoping they get the chance to make plenty more.

Thanks Blazzok - I will look through the lore. I did play Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 Never liked WOW that much- Read up quite a bit about it in my younger days and that is one of the reasons I think I enjoyed Warcraft more than my friends. Alas, I have forgotten so many things about it - will be great to catch up.

Great news - I will surely watch the second movie too!

yesterday we watched:

divergent allegiant part 1 - what a load of poop

huntsman winter's war - more poop

whiskey tango foxtrot - actually quite good

Over the weekend we watched Grimsby, Sasha Baron Cohen's latest film. It was alright, with a couple of silly, funny moments, but pretty forgettable.

We also watched Neighbours 2. It was decent, not as good as the first one, but worth a couple of laughs.

And last night, we watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It was good fun, made all the more interesting with my wife going "Oh, that's a quote from the real book" or "Oh, that's not from the book!" every now and then. It did actually give me some perspective to what Pride and Prejudice is actually about, and I can understand why it's considered a classic.

I'm actually really enjoying the Divergent series. Mainly started watching it because of Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort (they were in The Fault In Our Stars and I'm a massive John Green fan).

That got me to read Veronica Roth's books, which were frustrating and disappointing... until the end. Thanks to the well-crafted ending I forgave everything leading up to it.

SO and I watched the first movie. It was alright, but parts felt like people just wanted to go home for the day. SO read the books, and ranted for three days about the shit ending, so we're skipping the rest of the movies, thankfully :D

Warcraft. And as an avid Warcraft fan and player... I was disappointed.
My wife went to watch it with me. And for someone not knowing much from Warcraft she had little to no idea what was going on.

They could have done so much more. They portrayed the Horde to be so evil as well :/

Well the Horde was evil due to the corruption by Fel Magic thanks to Gul'dan. Orcs weren't evil in nature before being tainted however, which is shown via Durotan and his Frostwolf clan.

Also, the story so far seems easy to follow. Orc homeworld is in a bad way, so the Orcs need a new world. A portal is opened to a new world however the native inhabitants (humans) don't like these new guys breaking all their shits, so they fight back to get rid of them. The fight doesn't go all that well for the humans however the portal does get closed. There are still orcs in Azeroth and Gul'dan is still alive so there is more shit to come.

I was not disappointed in the movie at all and I need more!

They did not show orcs before they were corrupted, Where the Fel Magic came from and how Gul'dan got into power. I feel they could've done so much more unfortunately :/

Yeah I know, but they can easily show that in the sequel, because we don't know about Sargeras, Kil'jaeden, Ner'Zhul, etc. either, but to include all that the movie would have become quite long.

I feel what they did is fine for now and as the plot develops they can have flashbacks to show what happened in the past.

I understand what you are saying. But I disagree. It is like saying it doesn't matter what happened in the first few star wars movies. They could just have flashbacks of how darth vader became darth vader and Luke became a Jedi. I want to know what happened and why as it is an integral part of the Warcraft Lore and not just worthy of Cut Scenes and flash backs. i do think there is a reason why the movie got such bad ratings

Or they could never have made the prequels and then we would have just had Darth Vader, the evil yet in the end not so evil guy. :)

Perhaps they will do prequels at a later time when there is more interest in Warcraft, who knows. I'm still happy with it and we will probably not agree on this.

If they started with a movie based on the Titans and where Sargeras came from, etc. I think the movie would have done really bad and there would never have been a sequel.

Yeah... no. If you can watch Shai in TFIOS and walk out without it having some kind of emotional impact on you, you're not human ;P

Also, I thought Kristen Stewart's performances in Adventureland and The Runaways were fine.

Heh, makes me wonder what your SO didn't like.

Look, the plot was a disaster, but I thought the ending was some of the best emotional writing in young adult literature I had ever read.

I think it had something to do with

Spoiler: show
some characters dying in stead of getting their happily ever after. She's a sucker for happy endings where all the good guys gets back to their loved ones intact, and I vaguely remember this being an aspect of her rant.
I might well be thinking of another story she didn't like, though! :D

Added spoiler tags.

Good to have the big SPOILER disclaimer in there, though, just in case someone has this thread on email alerts.

Nope, that sounds about right. Also makes perfect sense :)

I forgot we had those... We're fancy! :D

Ja, the email/subs thing is also why I keep it intentionally vague if I can.

watched The Departed this weekend.

What a brilliant movie, im really starting to become a big martin scorcese fan

Yeah man. First time I watched The Departed I didn't like it at all. Second time, BAM, it hits me. Actually an amazing movie. A similar movie (only similar in tone; it's a Boston-based crime drama) you guys really should watch is Mystic River. One of the least feel-good movies in existence, but so, SO good. Double win for the Actors at the Oscars for that movie as well.

I watched Batman v Superman over the weekend... and yeah, I can understand the bad ratings. Epic soundtrack and the Batfleck is awesome, but the plot made less than zero sense.

watched me before you this weekend and its a proper chick flick. i quite liked it but i havent read the book and ppl are complaining the movie aint that great. i love me a good soppy love story
