Which game client do you hate the most?

I love steam, have not had one problem with it except that the process doesn't close sometimes but that is not really a problem.
Origin just has no purpose except for BF3.

^^ That^^
(sorry for short post but what more can i say? he said it all)

What I don't understand is why I need a client at all... What is wrong with my operating system? Did I not buy it as a platform to launch files? Ffs.

^ This. A Thousand Times This.

If battle.net were to be lumped in with GFWL and the uncomfortably ubiquitous Steam then it would be the best - simply because it's the only one that's an absolute necessity in all games in which it's involved. And Steam would be the absolute worst.

GFWL is a little bit annoying, but I've never had any major issues with it. Seems to run discretely under the hood once every thing is set up. Have they sorted out the SA patching yet? I remember having to manually download all my GFWL game patches, but that didn't bother me at all.

I kinda like Steam. The thought of having to install all of those games separately, then downloading and keeping them up-to-date separately simply does not appeal.

Would be awesome if the platform were a bit more responsive & snappy though. Esp on thin internet pipes.

Just windows live, it's such a fail compared to xbox live.

It's not meant to run on a 386sx btw ;)

Well if they want me to keep buying steamworks games, they should fix that. Otherwise, Bittorrent will remain the best game manager ever. All the games are free and I can do whatever the hell I want after I've installed it.

steam is the best besides its usual issues.
Origin doesnt makes sense, you have to run 2 applications for it to work this uses more resources. bf3 eats those resources like a coke addict.
Uplay I dont know coz I tried to use it and was lot during the ridiculous introduction.

Steam and all the others are pointless if we can just use in browser launchers :D

Browsers chow RAM though, so depends how much you have.

How's the browser launcher working out? I didn't like the idea at all when I first heard of it, but I'm interested to hear how it's going. I'm guessing it means you won't be able to play BF3 without an internet connection on release.

I think it is great as you can do other things while waiting to join a server without doing the whole alt-tab-crash thing.

But the problem is you need to also run origin which is pointless.

I prefer Steam. It isn't perfect, but it's the best I've tried. The downloads occasionally break in some way or the other or it starts downloading random games without me telling it to. But compared to other clients, Steam is by far the best.

Uplay is just crap. Failing to do simple things such as just connecting to the server.

Games For Windows Live isn't much better, you can be sure that something will break with it.
And seriously, I created my account before I turned 18, meaning I couldn't buy certain games.
But now that I'm 18 I still can't do anything because I have to "promote" my account, and guess what, that can only be done on the Xbox360, which I'll never own

I'm not happy about the Origin policies, but don't know much about the client itself.

Then there's the indie platform, Desura, which seems decent, but I haven't really seen much of it.

So yeah, Steam takes 1st place despite its quirks.

Steam has to be my favourite, I have no issues with it really except that when you 'pause' downloads it doesn't actually pause them instantly. Oh, and it seems to enjoy starting to update things while I'm playing games online, my 384k line really doesn't like that.

I only have Origin because of BF3, I don't like it but I don't find it half as infuriating as Games for Windows Live at least...

That's one of the reasons I support GoG for my retro needs :)

I do agree that steam has it's fails no argument there, but it's not that bad either. I would however prefer unlimited offline time VS cycles steam has to update or else you can't play, I'm without dsl at the moment and I know that update is coming sometime.

Preferred DRM is no drm at all, haven't seen cdproject fail so bad they had to bring drm back. Even with witcher 2 they dropped it in favour of the users. I'm already paying for it, I don't need to be imprisoned for legally supporting...

I also prefer steam but I would definitely have to say that the lobby system inside of COD MW2 was/is very shoddy. I know it isn't really a game client.....just felt like complaining about it.

In-browser is cool in yet another way, all they need to do is update the server-side with updates. Which is probably what they're going for in the battlelog of BF3.

So they can change things without patches to the game.

1. Steam: Works great 99% of the time if you have uncapped, not suited for users with limited bandwith.
2.Origin: Decent but not as fast or as good as steam, downloads much slower then steam, gog and gamersgate.
3.Uplay: Never given me any major issues, again uncapped means being online is not an issue.
4.Games for windows live: The worst of the worse, cause me to lose my batman and streetfighter saves when reformatting. Wouldn't use it if I had a choice.

Not really clients since you only use them to download the game but both gog and gamersgate downloaders/clients are very efficient. Similiar speeds to steam and no hassles.
