In my experience on local and international servers, for alota people the ultimate goal was duelling and to be the best you had to spend the hours to have the best chars and the best items etcHopefully diablo 3 can keep that going !
i think lan and online has its pro's and cons... but i miss a good lan... i sold my pc a few moths ago...but before that there was not really anything to lan... except dota(and other warcaft maps) cod 5 zombies... that was it... its really sad that everyone has to have a internet connection to play... sigh! i would like a fast internet connection and want my friends to have it aswell but not all can do that... there is just less cost involve in a lan at the end of the day... and that is what makes a lan...![]()
I would call myself a casual gamer... and I guess I only game because my bf is a gamer. Last year he was shocked to hear that I've never played Diablo, and immediately got his dusty diablo 2 cd of of his cupboard... so we played it and I must admit I loved it!
I played a sorcie and chain lightning'd the crap out of everything!!! It's really an awesome game, especially when you jam with friends. I plan to play a female wizard in D3... hope to see you guys ingame! ;P
Hot topic, I know but I've never really gotten the appeal. Finished the first one as a kid, the second was much of the same but I could be a Necro (YAY!) annnd really, it was just a big grind (being hack-and-slash, after all).
I've read a thousand comments by people obsessing over loot, but zero about story (not that story was ever a significant part of any hack-and-slash).
Anyone who's read my rants over the years knows that I'm about as "into" the hack-and-slash genre of RPGs as I am to having a tooth pulled. To me, it's a much more rewarding experience seeing the culmination of your actions and choices throughout a game than I am in grinding monsters for loot to grind more monsters.
So, yes, what do people like about Diablo? What's the big fuss about? Each time I read or hear anything about "Diablo" my brain slips into idle and the first thing I think about is its utter monotony.
Disclaimer: I'm genuinely interested in knowing more. This is not a troll thread![]()
Well I haven't found another game that has the whole Demon's and Devil's thing. Other rpg's i find to be more monotonous when its the same monsters as the next game. If there are any other games that I don't know that are like Diablo's demons etc then don't tell me as it will take away from my appeal of the game.
I like the looting of it.
I like the grimness of the game.
I love gothic age games with swords and magic and crap.
Plus Diablo are really well made games.
It is sad but at the sametime we didn't have the pressures back then that we do now. I cannot leave my wife and daughter alone at home to go LAN all night, however if I'm on teamspeak I can play all night with my mate's online without leaving the comfort of my home![]()
