Why don't you post on the MyGaming forums more?

Why don't you post more?

I've been a bit more quiet lately, mainly because of work. The people that sign my tip-slip each month have this unrealistic expectation that projects should be completed "on time, if possible".

Silly managers.

I've also found myself drawn to MyBB a bit more when I have time to read and post because of the lack of posts over here. I still check MyGaming first and it is still my favorite forum, but the lack of activity is making me uneasy.

Same here. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they end up merging everything.

That'll suck. If they do that then I hope they take all the posts over to MyBB too and my username and my avatar and my friends list and my signature and hmmm it just mustn't happen.

I hope it won't come to that. For me, MyG has a distinct character, much less intense and aggressive than MyBB. MyBB makes me think of work and MyG is play time all the way.
And besides, can you imagine the bloodbath if they let Wyvern loose in the MyBB TK?

I only post on things Im knowledgable on or have an opinion on.

Which is not much sadly but I honestly cannot thumbsuck or post for the sake of posting with empty posts a la Ichigo*:D during those forum activity competitions.

Often times I just feel that I do not have anything to contribute, or that it won't make much of a difference whether I post or not. Sometimes other people mention my thoughts and I don't want to repeat the idea.

Anyway, I like being a lurker...

Interesting thread and poll, Eugene. Useful to hear how folks are perceiving activity on the forum.

It is worth keeping in mind that we're currently in a the annual quiet period for gaming.

I'm saying "articles" because it's basically just reposts directly from MyBB.

Just to clarify: I know you're referring to posts in the forum regarding news articles - there are quite a few from MyBB. However, the news on the front page of MyGaming which go into the Gaming News forum is mostly original content and is not simply syndicated from MyBroadband.

Obviously we do occasionally post something from MyBB that is relevant to you guys on our front page (big broadband price movements, etc. etc.), but it isn't a regular occurrence.

I try, but I feel there is a lack of in-depth gaming discussion. By that I mean threads like discussing gaming politics, trends, sexism in games, real in-depth interesting things.

Stuff like 'the latest games to play' or 'new game patch' etc etc don't really facilitate discussion, and too many times the intellectual stuff gets hardly any interest from other members.

The sexism in games/gaming/gamers is an incredibly hot topic right now, which as a male from a historically privileged background I've actively steered clear of debating in public.

The Zoe Quinn situation (or Quinnspiracy, I guess), I've also avoided like the plague, as I agree with Jim Stirling's approach to it: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s5bla7.

But you've given me an idea... I'll post a thread a bit later and see what the response is like.

I'd also be curious to find out if there are strong enough feelings about topics like DLC, pre-orders, and the general state of AAA games to get a spirited discussion started. (I suspect we're all pretty much of one mind in this regard.)

Kevin, you should vote: "I find the regulars intimidating"

Hah!:D

We keep poor Kevin so busy it's no wonder the poor man doesn't really have time to post in the forum.

Isn't it ironic that the only way to get people discussing things, is to start a discussion about why people aren't discussing things? :p

This is not the first time this has happened to me this month. So funny.

Same here. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they end up merging everything.

Just to assuage those fears: while nothing is impossible, from where I'm sitting it is incredibly unlikely at this point.

Parting shot: There is some cool stuff coming your guys way soon (which had nothing to do with the stuff said in this thread).

Picked: Other Reasons, please elaborate

Reason:

In general my posts dont really appeal to everyone, even sometimes 1 or 2 people reply to my threads. The other threads sometimes de-rail, sometimes the posts are filled with utter useless information.

Honestly honestly? I get my news from other sites that report on more content more quickly and with way more depth. Everytime I load up the MyG home page I see an article I saw yesterday on Joystiq or Kotaku or something :( Not trying to be mean here but MyG has fallen behind in this regard. No regular reviews and most articles consist of less than 150 (guestimate) original words. Opinion pieces like top 10X and most X in a game, etc are great but too frequent and don't really feel like alot of work was put into them. I come here mostly for the forum because there are alot of really cool guys on here. I don't like the crowds on other sites like Lazygamer, they remind me too much of immature CoD players. Not to mention that the regulars often post interesting links to less mainstream news.

These forums are just small enough to feel familiar and just big enough to not get tired. MyBB is the total oposite. They're HUGE and most of the posts are fluff exchanged between regulars who actually do intimidate newcomers.

But I'm a minor contributor to this site so don't listen to me :P It's regulars that are the lifeblood of any forum and these regulars are quite alright.

Xbox one's for Everyoooooooooooooooooooooooone :p

I've been really busy plus there is not much to reply to. Terrible excuse I know.

@Tooks and Archie good to see you guys post.

@Jan, Hope all the LTG guys are well.

I added "Other" as well.

I lurk a lot, but sometimes I don't feel the need to post if what I wanted to say is already mentioned. I also prefer to read instead of posting.

What he said... or I don't always have something of value to post lol.
But I'll post whenever I can. If I find something I can post actively in, I will.
And I don't like spamming lol, which is why I don't get involved in the points Comps hehe.
