Will BT Games allow someone else to pick up a pre order?

I have an order for Diablo 3 - Collectors Edition, but they say I can only pick it up at the midnight launch. Thing is, I might be away on business next week so will not be able to make it. Will they allow my brother or a friend to pick it up if I have paid for it and given them the neccessary docs with the references etc on it? Has anyone done this before?

Please any info would be great, would be quite retarded if they cancel my order for this.

Just make sure that you arrange it with BT first for your friend to collect - I'm sure they it shouldn't be a problem

Potti why did you go with BTgames as your choice to get the colectors?

Well I first went to Kalahari but then I changed my mind as I was about to pay as I thought it would be easier to just collect it the morning of the 15th. So I ordered from btgames then few days later they said they "oversold" - dont see how that was my problem - and do not have a collectors for me anymore. So I ordered the normal edition elsewhere. Then on monday they sent me an email saying they have a copy for me BUT if i dont collect it at the midnight launch they will cancell my order and not refund me -wtf- but theres nowhere else with any collectors so I just have to accept it >_< unless some1 knows where i can find one ? this is for sure the last time i get anything from btgames again...

Sounds like BS to me, I would have told them to go screw themselves. They can't force you to pay R100 deposit and THEN tell you exactly when you have to pick it up.

As for making arrangements I would do what others have suggested, mail and/or phone them and let them know the situation and that you'll be getting someone else to pick it up for you.

My Wife picked up my Halo Reach Legendary for me & all she had was the order confirmation. However with the extremely limited stock numbers SA have of the D3 CE they could be making it so that you have to pick it up on launch day (not at the midnight launch) in order to have as many copies to sell on the day. Still if they force you to pick it up at the Midnight launch I would, like Monk said, tell them to go fuck themselves and then report them to the consumer rights body. Launch day yet, midnight launch no.

It is complete BS, but I want the collectors so ;/ And they Actually want a R300 non-refundable deposit. This is a copy+paste directly from the email they sent me...

DIABLO COLLECTORS ORDER
BT Games has managed to get hold of some more copies of the Diablo Collectors Edition and thus are offering you, due to your earlier order that expired, the first chance to secure one of these collectors editions

To qualify for one of these collectors editions please do the following:
1. Confirm you want the collectors edition by emailing [email protected] by 4pm on May 07, 2012.
2. Confirm which of the stores opening for the Diablo midnight launch you would like to collect at.
3. You may only collect this at the midnight launch, if you are unable to collect at the launch this order will be immediately cancelled.
4. A R300 non-refundable deposit to secure this order for the midnight launch is required by 12pm on May 11, 2012
5. A copy of this email is required when you go to the store to pay the deposit.
6. If any of the above requirements are not met we reserve the right to immediatly cancel your order.

Is this even legal lol :O

That's absolute bullshit. Fucking scavengers. Isn't the point of a deposit that it is refundable? That's not a deposit, that's basically a non-refundable booking.

Ek sou hulle in hulle moer ingestuur het.

This should actually be taken public, because this is such bullshit. They need to see that the public won't stand for their crap.

Hahahahah a 40% non-refundable deposit for an order for which they reserve the right to immediately cancel.

PLEASE, PLEASE post that up on their Facebook wall, that shit is beyond absurd.

Greedy, unscrupulous behaviour, but that's what we've come to expect from BT Games. First the insane pre-order fiascos with God of War 4 and such, and now this non-refundable deposit nonsense.

Best thing to do is just stop giving these vultures your business and buy from honest, dependable retailers like Zaps.

What all of them said, dont give BT your business. Try Zaps or something.

I just checked Hellopeter out of interest, and first on the list of a page dominated by complaints is this post:

BT games had posted an AD on their website on the 19th of April revealing that they had secured an extra 100 copies of the Collectors Edition of the highly anticipated PC Game, Diablo III, and that pre-orders were being accepted. Being a huge fan of the series I immediately pre-ordered a copy of said Collectors Edition and awaited the email from BT Games confirming my pre-order.

I received the confirmation email later that evening and it stated that I had 7 DAYS to secure my pre-order by paying a deposit of R100 to my nearest BT Games branch. I went the very next day after work to the Canal Walk branch to pay my R100 deposit but the salesperson behind the counter told me that if I didnt receive an email THAT DAY (ie on the 20th of April) that my pre-order hadn't actually been confirmed. They had oversold by 400 copies and couldn't meet the demand for the game.

I only received an SMS today to say that my Collectors Edition Pre-Order had been cancelled and swithced to a Standard Edition copy.

This is the worst service I have EVER experienced concerning special orders, I was't given and explanation or apology. They clearly dont give a **** about their customers.

The thick plottens.

Note specifically Point No. 3 & 4.
I am no longer in SA but want to encourage each and every Gamer to NOT give BT Games any Business.

Please share this so we can get the word out about this shocking business ethic.

I've also posted this on their FB wall, let's see if they respond:

Hi BT Games. There is an interesting discussion underway at MyGaming about your Diablo III pre-orders, might be worthwhile adding your two cents. (thread located at ...)

Fail. Rather next time support a proper retailer like zaps / takealot.
