odd just after a clean format and install some games claims there are no more direct x on the system, i do read though that you can run the directx 9 that comes with the game without any issues.

anyone else gotten this just after win7 clean install ? (mass effec and devil may cry 4 does this for example)

Is it some games or all of them that give you issies?
What happens when you run dxdiag?

o well i've no clue what is wrong here. going for another clean without restoring via filewizard and moving mydocuments...

...dxdiag says dx11 on. there was no issues at work from clean

eish dude :( Well i know dx11 will work with Vista,7 and any future versions of windows.
what happens when u try and install dx9?

True, so many times we install Directx9 from many game cd's that we own. You never know what little files it adds in the long run to make a lot of games work

Yes it is, but I haven't experienced any problems as of yet =touch wood=
Obv Win7 comes with Dx11, but every game I installed I said yes to every directx9 installation of it. Including the one I downloaded from Microsofts site, so I dunno. No issues yet on my side :)

But i'll try and help where I can though

i like my console better... no such issues there or any sata cdrom drive "emulation detected" but there is none

anyways just after a fresh install and then installing latest dx9 made them problems go away. odd but i guess it is so.

You should have needed to install dx9 as it should be included in the dx11 files... I have installed games on windows 7 that i played way back when there was the first dx8 or 8.1 and they work just fine...

The technet version is that the leaked or official version. Was thinking you could report it to MS maybe they could help.

well, try it again after a just installed win7 ok :)

I've had that problem with certain DX9 games in Win7 with every clean install so far. What works for me is to download and run the DirectX Web Setup. Everything works like a charm after.

Hope that helps :o

same here; win 7 > updates > dx9 march 2009 > display drivers > reboot > rest of stuff.

Will Do lets see if i have the same issue... will get back to you. Just for the record i am still running RC i am waiting for the orignal to come out.

great, but remember you must fresh install win7 and only your sound + display drivers :).

This is normal, you get the same thing on Vista. Lots of the older DirectX 9 files aren't included in DX10/DX11.

You just need to run the DirectX 9 Web Setup (normally included in the install process for most games that use those files), this will check your system for any older missing components, it will then download and install them. Solved.

I'm not sure how the direct x install process works but installing older versions over new versions is usually a bad idea. I'd run the web setup.
