*WINNER ANNOUNCED* Win EVGA GeForce GT 610 GPU with AxizWorkgroup

I'm still running a 4 series Nvidia card that has similar core speeds to this 6 series card. Obviously the 6 series card is the latest and greatest from Nvidia, but it also supports the most recent DirectX. Would love to see how the games look in the latest DX :) As far as I know these new cards also feature a new very low power mode which would be awesome considering my PC is on 24/7/365.24 :D

Honestly I would give it to my cousin, she loves playing games but is still using a 256MB card so saying it's outdated is an understatement. It really sucks when she gets a new game and it doesn't run well enough, she's pretty much gotten used to playing some games in slow motion so it would make a huge difference to her and make a great present.

I need an upgrade badly, it took me about a week of tweaking settings, just to get Skyrim to play in "stutter mode".
I need to kill some Dragons.

I need a new graphics card since my 5770 Radeon kicked the bucket a few weeks ago and currently it feels like a crime for me to play my games at anything below 720p (amd discrete graphics)

So here is the condensed version of my tale from 3 years ago:
Interior design student > Internship at architect > Start building dream pc > Car accident > Recession > Lose internship > Buy new car > Can't afford final component (Gfx Card) > Gets a hand-me-down from brother (8600gt) > Sadface

I've had to replace the fan on the card a year or so ago. I used an old north-bridge fan. I trimmed the fins of the new fan with a nail clipper to make it fit. It worked quite well, but I think it isn't very well balanced. The card often makes crazy noises and lately the PC would hang with graphical glitches all over the screen.
If I were to win this prize it would allow me to make full use of my PC for work (3D visualisation and so on) which in turn would give me the funds to buy all the games I have missed out on and be able to buy the ones coming in the near future (GW2 anyone?).
Anyway, this would go a long way toward setting me up for the future and taking a load off my chest.

My current GPU is giving allot of problems so i have to play with underclocked settings :(

All my hardware is the latest and having a GT610 would truly make my rig one of the best to run BF3 on ultra.

I've been trying to get my girlfirend into gaming. So much so that I had an entire plan for it. Here is what it is so far, and what has been completed.

Phase 1: Plant the idea that games are good. (Completed. Purchased entire steam catalogue of Sims 3 during Steam Summer Sale, installed steam on her PC, gifted games to her on Birthday)

Phase 2: Introduce her to the classics (Completed. Girlfriend has finished Jazz Jack Rabbit 1 and 2, tried various others - enjoyed some)

Phase 3: Indi games (Completed. Girlfriend now has collections of indi games on Steam, and a few Humble Indi Bundles. Note to self: was a huge success; she averages 15 minutes a day on Steam)

Phase 3.5: Notice she is into planes.

Phase 4: Semi-action games (Completed. Bought arcade-style 3D plane skiet-en-donner games, including Crimson Skies, Plane Crazy and someother one I forget the name of.)

Phase 5: Indi Racing games (Completed. Girlfriend now has Trackmania Nations United installed on PC AND LAPTOP FOR WHEN AT UNI!!! SUCCESS!!)

Phase 6: Bring Girlfriend to LAN (Completed. Girlfriend has attended 2 LANs, mostly playing Run Kitty Run, and Slide Bunny Slide in warcraft 3. Note: Girlfriend likes cute animals in games. Should exploit further)

This is where I currently am in the plan. I can't procede further since her PC has no graphics card, and me being a student, I can barely afford taking her out.

Phase 7: Introduce to classic LAN games (Uncompleted - Plan to start with Counter Strike 1.6, Call of Duty 2, Age of Empires 2)

Phase 8: Play said classic LAN games at LAN. (Uncompleted. Pay off friends in beer/pizza to gve her challenge, but not crush her. Have girlfriend on very slightly stacked teams, make sure her game win ratio is between 60 and 65 percent)

Phase 9: Introduce to "modern" LAN games (Uncompleted. Order not neccesary - DOTA, CoD4 promod, Starcraft 2)

Phase 10: Purchase Starcraft 2/ WoW/ Diablo 3 and co-op with her. (Uncompleted. If WoW, use current toon to push. If Diablo, make new char and co-op. If Starcraft 2, 2v2 with her to at least Platinum ladder)

Phase 11: Ask her to join clan.

Phase 12: Pwn noobs (Aka LAN buddies)

So you see, winning this card will aid in a critical step in my plan. I can't afford one myself for her, but a GPU in her machine would go a long way to nurturing the growth of a fellow Nerd. We have to take care of our own.

NERDS UNITE!

Well im new to the forum and don't post a lot because of my busy work and study schedule. I am an avid games in my spare time and devote all opportunities I can to get better at the current games I play online and competitively. I have a great system that took years of saving and a loan from my dad but the problem is I cannot afford a better GFX card, my card is an old GTX 9600 1Gig and yes it is a good card or at least was when it was released. My card is going on 5years old and is dying. I battle to get 125fps on Call of duty 4. Which places a huge strain on my gaming as is noted that the .5 of a second delay I experience in my latency caused by what is known as fps lag I am always at a disadvantage and I know that this card will assist me to reach a peak level of skill as I now need to improve but am stuck were I am.

Well i have just recently had a bouncing baby boy. And what would be better than to upgrade my on-board graphics in order to sit with my boy and play games (while keeping an eye on him of course) in the lounge on the big 32" Sony Bravia (with amazing graphics). This would also allow me to get brownie points with the Mrs and watch movies in HD :)

Peace out...

I'm still chugging along with my 6800GT......yip she was a beast.....was.....gladly still playing games that are 4 years old. :)

I had a Palit GTS250 with a Huntkey 550W PSU. I sold the power supply and the Graphics card because I was going to upgrade. I got an Antec 620W PSU. As I was about to purchase the Graphics we moved into our own place and I used the money for my wife to buy a washing machine. Then I saved the money again and just as I thought I was going to buy the graphics card the car broke and I had to do a complete overhaul. Since then I have not been able to save any money for the graphics card and my onboard graphics is just not making it. My gaming has taken a big knock due to this and I do not go to any lans at the moment as I can't play any proper games.

Thank You for the opportuninty to try and get this prize. It is really great!!

I have a 7200 GS and its 128mb ram and 64 bit card, cant play amy new games and cant even play online pc lags more than th internet.
A GT 610 will be better than the one i have

I work remotely for a games company in Cape Town. (http://icegreengames.com/)
I also game too much (to my girlfriend's dismay), and I have been meaning to upgrade since my graphics card is a few years old already. (quite a few)
Having a better graphics card will mean I can work much better, and I wont have to play my games on a lower graphics setting just so that I can play a game that laggs way too much when I start pushing towards the High settings of any game.
My gaming life would finally be a full HD one :D

I would like this as I am planning on getting an HP Microserver. Would need a low powered card for it.

my good old 3850 (256mb) can no longer keep up with my hunger for games/ broken thermal sensor, overheat, it wont last long. even though 620 is not exactly high end it will still put me back on track.

Well my GFX old trusty 6600GT left me sadly a few months back and since my pc was already waaay out dated i just bought a new one well almost just missing a GFX cause im running onboard lol runescape does look amazing onboard though lol but i wish i could atleast go to CoD4 or maybe BF3 lol but thats only after i get a good GFX that could atleast play it on medium :D

My 8600GT makes funny noises at me everynight as it tries to play me the song of its people. I need a GFX card unit with either English or at the very least Galactic standard as its protocol of choice.

Well.....er.....see...this may be reaching just a tad, but unlike most other entrants, I am of a mind to downgrade: here is my reasoning
[flawed thought it may be]. With my maiden trip to rAge coming up in Ocotber, I could do with some pocket money for the event. Given that I don't usually crank up games to the maximum detail settings my graphics card will allow, if I were to win the GT 610 on offer, I could sell my Radeon 6870 [overkill for me, I guess], and bank the proceeds. Or sell my Xbox. :p
