Although I voted Assasin's creed , my favourite game of all time has to be Metal Gear solid , I remember playing for the first time and saying man this games @#$^%%$ awesome .

Same here, although I voted for SC2 (I mean c'mon, best game currently to play online and with new expansion coming.. and still playing today!) my favorite game of all time must be Final Fantasy 7 on PS1! A (wealthy) friend of mine originally got the game when I was in St4/5 I think, I was so impressed with it that I just had to have it! Thus I resorted to using my life savings of R1000(which in 1996/7 region = millions for me, spent saving that for 13 years hehe) at the time, the rest of the R2500 (which was crazy expensive for gaming console at the time!!) borrowing money from my mother, brother and grandparents PLUS delivering newspapers just to get the console(bought game shop in Tygervalley near the food court, they chipped it for me as well!:D) like 3 months later, best decision every made :D

Following closely behind must be the original Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3.. need I say more! "whistling:

Then the Assassin's Creed series..

Hands down Mass Effect 1 for me. The 1st time I played it, I was stunned by its level of visceral immersion, especially since I wasn't an RPG fan in the 1st place. Before Mass Effect: Highest amount of time spent on a single game = 10+ hours, After Mass Effect: Highest amount of time spent on a single game = 90+ hours... Saint Shepard, Dee Shepard, and Athena Shepard all saw to that:D

Half Life - its was so orsome when you walked up to the scientists pressed a button and they would talk back to you, and seeing my 1st headcrab was scary as hell

For me, it has to be Half Life... That game alone got me into gaming... Such fond memories of playing that during school holidays...

I have to agree with the guys about Planescape: Torment. On the list I have to say KOTOR. It is brilliant, the story, total immersion, the twist! Very few games come close to it.

What a tough choice, but I had to go with Half Life. This just brings back so many awesome memories of when I was young and care free and could sit up until 3 am killing head crabs with a crow bar. Ahhhhh the days.

Half Life is still the holy grail of gaming as far as I am concerned. I played it with my best mate in 1999, he would control movement and I would shoot and kill things, one of the best memories of my gaming life, replayed the game recently and its still epic, although the graphics aren't comparable to the current gen games, I still loved the game and atmosphere to pieces..just proving what an amazing game it was and still is to this very day.

The great gaming companies of today should all be forced to play Half Life and see what gaming was all about and bring that back.

It was! :( I too wanted to go Half-Life, but Knights at the time was awesome! :D

Mass Effect and GW are solid contenders (I've spent more hours in GW than any other game), but Baldur's Gate was my intro into the RPG genre, and Baldur's Gate II - when it came along, was a game I just couldn't put down. Straightforward controls, gripping story, character progression and romance - it was the franchise that ended up defining Bioware in a way :)

Out of the ten listed, Rome - Total War has a special place in my heart, I started playing that game when it came out and I still on occasion now fire it up for well an entire weekend :-)
