*WINNERS ANNOUNCED* Win 3 sets of 8GB AMD DDR3 gaming RAM with AMD SA

I would like to ask a question. What does everybody think of the A8-3870K? Since I am wanting to build my pc as you know if you saw my thread, and I might put it in their if its good with either a radeon HD 7870 ghz edition (gotta love price cuts :D) or 7950 with it

(for those who did see my thread, its not even close to finish!)

I need to build it sooner rather than later as my current pc almost died today but the problem is scraping together the cash (the guy who was going to give me the cash dropped me last minute)

To be honest I was skeptical since I heard of AMD as a child, and have always stood loyal to Intel until a year ago when I began to experiment. And I have to say that I was skeptical for nothing, and am very impressed. Since then I got an AMD cpu and gpu; only thing that I have disliked so far is the shaky gpu drivers. Had a hell of a time when 12.4 (if I remember right) came out. Other than that, they have a new loyal customer.

I must be honest, I have never been a fan of AMD, but it's not due to personal experience or bad review etc. I have always had an intel processor and never had issues, therefore I have never ventured out of my comfort zone to try AMD and see what the hype is about. That being said, I am not an avid upgrader...I upgrade once every 3-4 years or so. So maybe in the near future, I will splash out and upgrade to an AMD rig.

First AMD GPU was the 5870 brilliant card but the first drivers where a bit unstable. Seems to have been sorted out by now. Used to get those grey lines down the screen when playing a game every now and then.

I'm currently a 6990 with a 6970 - nuff said.

Must say that AMD did something right for a change with their GPU's.

At first I thought AMD was a dodgy brand but I then decided to try it (as I had bought a laptop with build in AMD Graphics) so then I got a AMD 8 core CPU that blew my mind. It made my games run smooth and really amazed me. AMD has become a wanderful inovation to the computer world. Good luck and happy Gaming to all!!!

Their products been very good in the beginning but when Intel release CPU i3,i5,i7 series they got a tough time but now they back on their feet and bring even better product and now I own one. The price is getting better and offer better.

To start off i think Amd rocks i have been using amd products since my first pc i am currently using the phenom 965 black edition and it has been rock solid

Years ago bought AMD Athlon XP 2000+. Still giving me excellent service and in it's time was faster than equivalent Intel processor. Good value for money.

Well since we're being honest :)

My gaming PC history went as follows
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
AMD Athlon 3500
AMD Athlon x2 4200
Intel I5 2500k

So I have been both sides of the fence, so here's my honest opinion. My AMD chips were a million times easier and nicer to install, I prefer their board layout with having the pins on the chips. Installing my Intel I almost had a mini-heart attack putting that in. Stock fan I found my AMD performed quieter and cooler than my Intel Stock (I eventually moved to my 3rd Party Coolermaster fan for this reason)

Performance wise I felt AMD were the right choice back in the day but there's no denying that at the moment Intel's Sandybridge/Ivy bridge CPU's are better bang for buck. To the average user though, there's a good chance they'll never see the real world difference but I spend a lot of time in CPU intensive applications for development.

What I do miss about AMD though is their consistent chip sockets >.< Sticking with Intel I fear I have to buy a new motherboard and ram if I ever wanted to upgrade just the CPU. So that's definitely a plus to AMD.

Graphics card wise my history goes:
ATI All In Wonder
Nvidia Geforce 440 (Classic card)
Nvidia Geforce 5200
ATI Radeon 9700 (Fantastic card)
Nvidia Geforce 6600gt
Nvidia Geforce 7800gtx
Nvidia Geforce 8800gts
Nvidia Geforce 8800gt
Nvidia Geforce 560ti
Nvidia Geforce 680

So I'm a little bias here, graphics card I find comes down to the time of release and drivers. I like both sides here, I'll go for whichever 1 is best bang for buck at the time. What normally happens though is AMD will release and a few months later Nvidia will release something slightly more powerful at a similar price or vice versa. It's just always worked out that I got Nvidia. What does bug me though is the AMD cards are generally much bigger and hotter than the Nvidia cards. For example my friend's 6950 is MASSIVE compared to my GTX680.

I have Not been a AMD fan. One of the Greatest things that have changed my mind is the GPU's they are awesome, feature rich. They in my experience in the last few years apart fromt he affordability of the GPU's are amazing. they Preform at the top.

I have found AMD not to be so good in my few uses but if I am always open minded to try out new things it can just be me but so far I have not found a AMD product that has suit me so far :/

Talking about graphics cards here : AMD is better than Nvidia if you compare the two by value for money. AMD releases a series of cards, and few months later Nvidia does the same only with higher price tag and a minor performance boost. Even though I do own a Nvidia card, I regret not buying an AMD card, hence the price for value ratio is better than Nvidia. Also the power consumption of AMD cards is smaller, which in some cases can save you money by not having to buy a new psu if you want to crossfire 2 cards. I've always been a Nvidia fan, but lately I hear only good things about AMD (except the poor driver support, which comes nowhere near to that of Nvidia) , so I'm gonna give it a go at the end of the year.

Amd's venture into the CPU market has been a success, but only in the price war against its competitor, (whom we shall not name)
Where they are making awesome strides is in their APU's and GPU's.
Now in terms of their GPU's, AMD has had/Have the best value for money cards that put its competitors to shame.
Such awesome cards as the HD6850 and the older 5770 which was the most affordable and performance boasting DX11 card which can be picked up for an easy 1k.

But before i get trolled by GTX fans,

I would like to see where AMD heads in the RAM market, with steep competition from the likes of corsair and so on.
If they can maintain the competitive "bang for your buck" that has kept them alive all these years, then they have my vote.
I would buy this ram anyways then, ( unless its kak, or expensive)
