Witcher 2 delayed and CE contents

The Witcher is the best game ever made. The only game that has any chance of being better than The Witcher is The Witcher 2.

I wouldn't be able to tell that you love the game so much hey I mean its not as though you have it in your avatar or something lol :P

What follows are impressions of The Witcher 2 based on the limited preview code that Namco and CD Projekt recently released to the press. It’s the prologue and first chapter of the full game, and as such makes up a healthy chunk of play time. People are saying about ten hours, but I think I spent longer than that with it. I’ll avoid specific narrative spoilers, but I won’t be avoiding game-mechanic spoilers. What that means is that I’ll be talking about how the game works, but not that much about what actually happens. This is not a game where you want to know about the surprises.

So let’s take a look at everything else.

The Witcher coming soon! Pre-download the sequel before release!

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut, the highly acclaimed RPG by CD Projekt RED, will come to GOG’s storefront with tons of exclusive free goodies on May 10th for a regular price of $9.99--but we're offering a special discount in commemoration of The Witcher 2 coming to GOG.com. The game will be available at a 50% discount from May 10 until May 24, and will cost only $4.99!

The Witcher is an action RPG based on books by popular Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. The player takes the role of Geralt of Rivia, the witcher (a professional monster slayer). GOG's version of the game is the most complete and comes with loads of free goodies including: game guide, soundtrack, music inspired by the game, The Witcher story, The Witcher "sexy" calendar, artbook and more!

Speaking of The Witcher franchise, starting from 10th of May all GOG.com users who want to buy the highly anticipated sequel to Geralt’s adventures, will have the opportunity to pre-purchase the game and pre-download almost all of it, so on May 17 when the game is released, they can play it almost instantly! Thanks to the brand new GOG.com downloader the pre-download will go fast and easy.

Pro Tip: The Witcher 2 preorder offer on GOG.com ends on the 16th of May at 5:59 p.m. EDT, so anyone who wants to take advantage of the incredible preorder offer should make a point to visit the pre-order page before then and snag their copy of the game. Also note that if you’ve preordered The Witcher 2 from GOG.com, you will have until the end of May to purchase the game and receive all of the preorder goodies, so don’t forget!

I have it on good authority that Borat (Geralt's well-known Kazakhstani ex-lover) will be available as one of Geralt's likely amorous conquests in future Witcher 2 DLC.

Joy be to Witcher fans.

Nice preview from pc gamer. I especially like these comments, seem witcher 2 haven't been ruined by corporate influence like dragon age 2 was...

What stands out most about The Witcher 2 is – and believe me, it’s a rare big budget game that gives off this vibe – is that it feels like the game CD Projekt wanted to make, with neither apology nor compromise getting in the way of its vision. The engine targets high-end systems because that’s the only way to make it look this good. Characters happily drop words like ‘fuck’ and ‘cunt’ because it wouldn’t be The Witcher’s cynical world if they didn’t. Playing as Geralt doesn’t give you the same freedom of build and character as most other RPGs, because you’re not here to be a Paladin or a Mage, but a Witcher – a very specific mix of fighter, sorcerer and alchemist, with a steel sword for slaying humans, and a silver sword for monsters. Through the levelling system, you can tip the balance towards any of those disciplines, but you still need them all, because that’s how a Witcher rolls. Or makes heads roll, anyway.

Welll my guess is that the Witcher 2 is finished/gone golden already.

Right you are.

CD Projekt Red finishes development on May 17-dated PC role-playing game.

It's nearly time for PC gamers to get hexed. Polish development shop CD Projekt Red has announced that it has finished development on The Witcher 2--the sequel to the acclaimed original--and that the game disc in now on its way to mass production.

continues...

So much has changed since the original Witcher. Instead of using Bioware’s Aurora engine, Witcher 2 has its own custom-made slab of beauty. Combined with a behind-the-character view, it makes for incredible vistas, terrific scale, and the kind of graphical fidelity that makes a PC cry and Dragon Age 2 look like a school play.

That makes me happy :D!! Can't wait for this game!!!!

First review from pc gamer uk, not sure if there is an issue with posting links to magazine scans. This wasn't removed at the official witcher forums but any such postings gets removed at other forums so mods go ahead if its against the rules:

Btw. I managed to cancel my steam preorder and switch to the gog version due to the exclusive preloading offered by gog.com. Also notice we have a public holdiday the day after witcher launches...

I'm interested in buying it from GOG, but how long before release will you be able to preload. This is an issue for me since on a 384k line it can take a number of days to download and having the game not finish before release day is no good. :)

Edit: Okay site says May 10 so that gives me 7 days. Now to find out just how large the download is.

I probably would've bought from GOG on principle, if I hadn't preordered on Steam when it first listed.

So excited! Now if only they'd released right before all these public holidays....

I did go with steam first but I canceled my preorder from them when I found out that only gog.com has preloading.

I just told them I want it canceled and refund because of no preloading. They refunded me in full, no questions asked. Just told me they only do refunds for preorders.
