Woo! Load shedding, woo!

Had loadshedding today from 8:00 am -10:00 am then I had it again from 8:00 pm to 9:15, luckily it wasn't till 10 pm.

I was expecting load shedding tonight from 6pm to 10.30pm. Planned for it according to the schedule and nothing. So then you wonder if it's late. Bloody agents! Nothing.

Look at news24's Gridwatch app. Do you know why their logo is a lightening bolt?
Because load-shedding is just as unpredictable.

I might have but for some of the forumites in MyBroadband griping about it on Sunday. They were saying on ... off ... on ... off ... etc. I will have a look at it anyway ;)

Yeah the app wen't a bit crazy on Sunday, but in general it really works well. Has push notifications as soon as loadshedding is announced, when loadshedding starts or changes from Stage 1 to 2, etc. If you add your town/area, it will also notify you when you will be shed.

I've been on assignment in Mossel Bay (and was in CT for a few days) for the last 3 weeks, and they literally never have load shedding here. Amazing.

I have barely had any loadshedding myself. Most of the cuts are faults and not loadshedding.

So, load shedding has ruined my plans of relaxing with a game or two and try to get this sucky ass day behind me. So now I'm destitute to peruse the depths of websites like Reddit for entertainment

Eskom ends load shedding free July

Cape Town - Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 1 load shedding from 17:00 on Thursday, after nine days of no load shedding.

They said on Twitter that it would likely end at 22:00.

Earlier on Thursday, the power utility said "Eskom has not implemented load shedding for the past nine days".

"However, the power system is very constrained and vulnerable throughout the day today, with a high risk of load shedding being implemented at short notice," Eskom said in a statement.

"This is due to a number of Eskom’s generating units being unavailable as a result of technical faults.

"As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm.

"In winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times.

"We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 06:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.

"Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours.

"Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms."

Always with the technical faults.

And just yesterday they were openly congratulating themselves on not fucking up for 8 days in a row. Bunch of buttmonkeys.
