World of Warcraft - General Discussion

Yarrrr... another karazhan person !

Only thing I hate about this realm is the rare spawn we refer to as alliance. Where do they hide ?????

Couldn't sleep this morning and got up to play a bit of WoW, doing my dailies. While waiting for WG I decided to attack a low-flying Troll shaman that was loitering inside the fortress. Normally when I do that, they fly higher, but this guy decided to fight me.

It was one of the best PvP fights I've ever had. We were fighting for more than a minute before one of the other players intervened. It was a case of nuking each other, then CC'ing the other guy while healing yourself for a few seconds.

There was also a Troll priest there. Bunch of our guys and the two Horde were just messing around. What was annoying was the priest would mind-control one of us and the rest would just go all out nuking on the mc'ed player. Getting ganked by your own players isn't alot of fun

I bet! Although I must admit - I do love ganking alliance (I'm a Nelf Rogue).

I've been pursuing the Gurubashi Trinket's Arena Grand master title where you have to loot the chest 12 times for the normal trinkets. If you're in the arena you can fight anyone alliance or horde. I've nailed quite a few alliance players ... it felt SO good K.O.'ing an alliance DK by stunlocking him to death. I'm on 11/12 trinkets so far.

WoW is a graphic intense game. I get worse frames in wow then I do in crysis.

If you don't believe me do a 25 man raid on the gunship battle with all your details on max and with a resolution of 1920x1200. ;)

The reason WoW is so graphic intensive is because it relies more on CPU than most other games.

I am waiting for Cataclysm to try this game again from lvl 1. But I know once I hit max level the game will be shyte again due to the terri-bad community. I will roll Alliance this time I think, a change from my constant Horde play.

Have Hard Modes been introduced for Lich yet btw? I haven't even seen the inside of IC but I heard the Normal Mode fights are fairly straight forward and most guilds have overcome them quite quickly.

EU - Aggramar here, I'm wondering why other people aren't on Aggra aswell because Blizz asigned it to me as the server hosted by the closest server hub to SA. Did you guys like look up on WoW servers or choose a cool name or what?
And I think Hard Modes are out since the ICC 25M achievement has been earned by some elite guild (Not Ensidia btw, they exploited something and got they achievs torn from them :O the goggles do nothing, against Ghostcrawler & friends!) but I'm not sure, more of a casual player, making a lvl 60 toon now for our server vanilla raid guild, fun!

When I first started WoW, I just chose a Normal English realm and it assigned me to Blade's Edge. I think it looks at realm populations, but I'm not so sure about distance from the server hubs.

Honestly, I'm just guessing. Both Aggramar and Blade's Edge are Paris servers. Paris seems to be closest in terms of distance the data has to travel, comparing to the other servers in Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Stockholm.

What was your recommended server? Or did you know beforehand which server you wanted to play on?

I get two or three recommended servers. My very first was Lightbringer EU.

It's all about server population :) I don't think you can use actual as-the-crow-flies distance between here and a city, as that's not the actual route data will take to get to servers.

Well, the actual route would be SAT-3, which ends in Spain and Portugal. From there Paris is the closest. I wasn't talking about a straight line at all.

I know, but the route from Spain/Portugal to Paris isn't necessarily direct is what I mean.

Yes , Hard Modes have been here for a few weeks already.

I chose the realm where I knew some friends were playing. Which turned out to be EU Ahn'Qiraj. Realm degraded a lot in the past 4 years though.

I Might start playing again with Cataclysm , but Its probably going to be the same thing all over again. So the next MMORPG im aiming for is FFXIV.

QFT.

I stopped playing WoW about 3 months ago now, I just got too tired of doing the same thing day in & day out, and the lag on Sylvanas over a crappy iBurst connection just made it too frustrating for words. It is a good game though, and I've developed some good relationships with people playing it over the years, so I'll probably have a look again when the pre-Catacalysm events go live. How long after that I'll be playing though? That I don't know....

Chances are it'll be SW: TOR that really kills WoW for me though, rather than FFXIV :)

Some of the relationships i built with people is one of the main reasons i kept playing for so long. But it just gets too tedious to continue raiding after al this time.

Times are quiet in WoW.. People are really amped for Cata and Ruby Sanctum is around the corner too.
You do need to be in a serious guild to clear ICC, so that is a big deterrent for a lot of people.

When I get bored though, I:

a) PvP (started playing around with my Rogue as Subtlety... SUPER fun)
b) Powerlevel a new profession (money/time sink)
c) Achievement hunting (working on Salty now)
d) Level an alt (Resto Shammy @ 24, only through LFGs)
e) /camp

I do have BC2 to keep me busy most of the time though.
