Xbone or Ps4

I've always been a PC guy, but changed to console only sometime 2011. Had a xbox 360 but it didn't appeal to me so switched to PS3. The exclusive on there just suited me better. Regarding the controller, I prefer the Sony one as the Microsoft one feels bulky to me. When I moved from PS3 to PS4 the new controller actually felt a bit too big as well. Much more sturdy though.

Have you played on either console? Xbox360 friends move to ONE or PS4. Quite a lot of us here on PS4, and we even started or own little Mygaming Game Exchange group.

Also, just got an SMS from Edcon and Xbones are going for R4999 at CNA, with GOW bundle. Valid till 2 Sept.

Does it though?

Guessing about avg RRP here:
PlayStation 4 500GB - 5600
2x Dual Shock 4 Wireless Controllers - 1600 (800ea)
Moto GP14 - 800
Drive Club - 600
PES 2015 - 700
RUGBY 15 - 700
Month Playstation Plus Membership - 300

Total = R10,300

FNB Price = R399 x 24m = R9,576

I think that's a good price.

Think is i have the cash to buy it right out so think i would prefer to do that
you are not helping here I should've got the ps4 at dion while i was there for R5000

I have to agree with the statement on if u owned the previous Gen then get the upgrade of that... Im assuming you play online? If so you lose all your online mates, not that you wont make more, and its pretty easy to grow your friends list, especially with this place...

Bearing that in mind i have the PS4 and I must say its a great system... But i have had the PS 1-2-3-4... I cant stand the X-1 control... But i do GREATLY prefer the X Box UI to the PS "ribbon"

The PS4 is in my opinion, there when it comes to the media player, Iv had no issues with it... But i prefer to have a PC connected directly to the TV so this doesnt really matter for me.

Also the main thing you should take from this thread is how many guys have stressed that your choice should be based on Exclusives... For me I couldnt NOT play The Last of Us... Final Fantasy for years was a Play station exclusive, right up until XIII if im not mistaken... (and PC obvs...) But games like BloodBorne, (havent started yet) Uncharted, KillZone, Infamous, etc etc... These games made the decision for me... And i was seriously considering the X-1 because I have friends who play on X-1...

You wont regret either purchase though... They are both fantastic machines...

the only exclusive i actually care about is the FF series but even that has become a timed exclusive going forward so it will come out on xbox but only after sony other then that i really am not a fan of any specific series

Ber careful here... I havent seen any confirmation of what platforms its coming on... Last i can see it was discussed in 2013 and pretty back and forth... Iv only seen FF XV on PS4, apparently the X Box sales for FF XIII were atrocious... It wouldnt surprise me if it does make it to X-1 but i would double check if you enjoy the games as much as i do...

I remember reading somewhere they said it would come out on Xbox just first on PS, i wont lie i am leaning more towards PS but like people said no matter what i choose ill be happy

most probably still have a few in stores though

I own both, and here is my opinions so far:

1. Xbone is perfect for media playing, it's basically a media player with gaming capabilities. But I hardly ever turn mine one because I bought it for exclusives which are yet to be released.

2. PS4, is being used more than the xbone, the perfect gaming console with a bit of media capabilities.

I play games, i dont stream anything to these consoles as my TV can do all of that, on its own anyway.

If you're purely gonna play games, PS4 is the way to go then :)

Anything else I can answer perhaps, shoot! :D

Guys please no fanboys, I want to get a new console i prefer xbox controllers and had a xbox 360. The console i want will be used for media in the lounge but also used for the casual single player game just to chill when bored, i've heard all kinds of conflicting reports from people from xbox cant do 1080p to ps4 cant play flv's and has shit media capabilities... hoping you guys can dispel the myths and give valid reasons why you would chose the one over the other

...i repeat "The console i want will be used for media in the lounge "

Do i really need to mention which console has been promoted and marketed as a MEDIA player for the lounge?

Just the fact that it seems the OP is a casual player tells me exclusives means very little in this argument. He is going to play whatever is available on the console and fun, and both consoles have plenty of that.

Now coming to the MEDIA part, i believe Xbox One is miles ahead here, especially if you have a PC/Laptop with Windows 10 (or plan to have one). Streaming games to your PC, Streaming your content to your Xbox, including "projecting" your PC screen to your TV via your Xbox. You don't need all these ChromeCast/Miracast dongles anymore.
