Lenovo has unveiled its new generation of IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptops.

The lineup offers either an Intel or AMD-based system, with the option of either a 15.6-inch (39.62 cm) or a 16-inch (40.64 cm) display.

The 16-inch option for either CPU will have the bonus of a 16:10 aspect ratio at 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. This provides extra vertical space, but watching movies and series (traditionally shown in a 16:9 aspect ratio) might take some getting used to.

The IdeaPad Gaming 3i models are Intel-based systems, supporting up to a Core i7-12700H CPU and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU or Intel’s new Arc graphics.

The 3i model supports up to 1 TB of M.2 NVMe storage and 32 GB DDR4 3,200 MHz RAM. All configurations, except the RTX 3060 variant, support Thunderbolt 4.

The AMD-based laptops offer up to the Ryzen 7 6800H CPU with Nvidia’s RTX 3050 Ti graphics card. It has the same storage as the 3i variant, but you can get up to 32 GB of DDR5 4,800 MHz compared to the Intel equivalents. The AMD models do not support Thunderbolt 4.

Both the Intel and AMD  models offer either a 45Wh three-cell battery or a 60Wh four-cell battery. The 16-inch models provide support for up to a 71Wh four-cell battery.

Pricing for the new IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptops is as follows:

  • Intel 15.6-inch model (to launch in April)  – $989.99 (R15,226.16)
  • Intel 16-inch model (to launch in June) – $1,489.99 (R 22,916.22)
  • AMD 15.6-inch model – $929 (R14,288.13)
  • AMD 16-inch model – $1,139.99 (R17,533.18)
