According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the Electronic Entertainment Expo, known as E3, has been cancelled for 2022.
The news was first leaked by a tweet posted by Razer PR lead Will Powers, who stated that an email was sent out informing him that the event is cancelled.
Just got an email… It’s official, E3 digital is official cancelled for 2022. Lots of mixed feelings about this…

The ESA initially planned an in-person E3 event for this year following no event in 2020 and a digital-only event last year.
However, the in-person E3 planned for this year was cancelled in January, and the ESA has now confirmed it will not hold the event digitally either.
“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer,” said the ESA.
“Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favourite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.”
The ESA added that the reason for the cancellation was so that the organisation can focus its resources on the 2023 show.
