According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has enlisted Justin Lin to helm the movie adaption of the hugely successful manga series and anime, One Punch Man.
Justin Lin is no stranger to successful action franchises, as his previous works include Fast & Furious parts three, four, five, six, and nine, as well as Star Trek Beyond.
This news follows Sony announcing earlier this year that it will focus its talents on developing live-action remakes of notable games and comics franchises.
The One Punch Man adaption will trail the story by Japanese artist ONE that follows Saitama, a superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch.
One Punch Man was created in 2009 as a webcomic before it quickly became a global hit with worldwide sales totalling more than 30 million copies.
Sony recently acquired the rights for the film from Shueisha and joining Lin on the project will be script writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, and production studio Arad Productions.
Rosenberg and Pinkner will write the live-action film after previously teaming up on the successful Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom films.
Arad Productions, on the other hand, is credited for producing notable film series such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, and Venom.
Lin will also be a producer and will work with the scribes on a rewrite with the intention to begin production by year’s end.
Sony noted that it will provide more details on the development of the One Punch Man movie adaptation in the new year.
