Activision announce DJ Hero

3 February 2009

When Activision launched Guitar Hero back in 2005, armchair-rockstars around the world celebrated. To date, the Guitar Hero franchise has sold in excess of 23 million units worldwide, elevating it to near cult status.

Entering “Guitar Hero” into YouTube renders around 245000 results, most of which are uploaded videos of pubescent teens ripping their way through Dragonforce’s “Through the fire and the flames” on varying difficulty levels, and with varying degrees of success.

Well, Activision is not blind to the success of the series, and they have officially announced an addition to the franchise, albeit with a slightly different spin (get it?).

DJ hero will apparently ship with a turntable that will allow players to spin (see?) disks on and mix with. The game is currently confirmed for the Xbox360 and PS3 and will land “later this year”.
