Nintendo has officially announced a new forthcoming controller for its Wii.
According to the Wii Website, the console manufacturer and games publisher is introducing the “Classic Controller Pro”, which looks a lot like a traditional video game console controller.
The controller bears more than a subtle resemblance to the standard Xbox 360 and PS3 controller, featuring a four way direction pad, two thumb toggles, and four action buttons laid out in the classic control pad configuration.
The controller is essentially the same as Nintendo’s classic controller, with the addition of an extra two trigger buttons and palm grips similar to those seen on the PS3.
At the moment, the controller has no official release date, but will be available sometime over the next few months – in Japan, making it difficult to project a local availability time frame.
