The sequel to Monolith’s immensely popular first person horror title, F.E.A.R, recently received its first dedicated sequel.
F.E.A.R 2: Project origin has been received with relatively mixed reviews, however the general consensus is that Project Origin provides a solid first person action experience.
Fans of the game can rejoice, as Monolith has confirmed a Downloadable Content pack (DLC), which is currently being referred to as the “Toy Soldier” map pack. The new content was accidentally uploaded to the Xbox Live marketplace last week, only to be pulled within hours of the download going live.
Shortly after the DLC was removed Monolith confirmed that it will be release as originally intended in April, and that the early release was a mistake. The developers also confirmed that the DLC would be a free download.
We are not sure if we buy the statement that the DLC was leaked accidentally, after all, the incident has generated a significant amount of publicity, which definitely won’t hurt the game’s sales figures.
Monolith has confirmed that the DLC pack will be freely available to console owners via the Xbox Marketplace and the Playstation Network.
PC owners will not receive the exact same DLC pack, but will be able to download the map pack that will be available in the DLC. PC owners have also just received a new patch for the game which provides a number of new features and fixes. There is no official word on when PC gamers will get the new map pack.
The “Toy Soldier” map pack will allow players to experience the game through the eyes of shrunken toy soldiers, with giant props to navigate. The settings include a giant pinball machine, a hospital room and a playground.
