Mass Effect officially announced for Xbox 360 and PC

18 March 2009

We were quite disappointed by the Mass Effect 2 “Teaser Trailer” that was released last month. The video is remarkably uninformative, but then we can’t really complain seeing as that the game had yet to be officially announced.

Yesterday, the game’s developer Bioware officially announced that Mass Effect 2 will be released in early 2010.

The most interesting as well as worrying part of the announcement is that the developer has only confirmed the release of the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. We were sure that with EA taking over the publication rights, a PS3 version would be forthcoming, but at this point there is no word on Sony’s console receiving the sequel to the epic space opera/RPG.

There is no way of telling whether EA purposefully omitted information on PS3 availability in a bid to generate media attention, or if there are genuinely no plans for a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2.
